Dear members,

Here is the list of your ideas and suggestions to make HR Link even more useful to the HR Community.

This list has been compiled from forum topics, feedback module, private messages, and pings.

Please feel free to add to this list.

We will do our best to implement as many suggestions as we can. We try to implement at least two suggestions every week, and do it consistently.

Notes:

A. The items on the list are in no specific order.

B. I will start a new topic when we implement a new suggestion and or take up a suggestion for implementation.

Once again, our profound thanks to everyone who contributed the ideas, suggestions, and feedback.

Provisional list:

1. Auto-refresh a page / section of a page.

2. Revamp the Home Page - Recently shared (only professional), More visibility for HR News and Follow Notifications.

3. Topics with attachments - compile this as a HR Library. Let moderators help with this.

4. Search Forums - improve the visibility by placing the search box on more forum related pages.

5. Member Search - More options. More visibility.

6. There should be a forum for Member Feedback, Suggestions, and Ideas.

COMPLETED - 07 October 2009.
http://hrlink.in/topics/feedback-ideas-and-suggestions-to-make-hr-link-more-useful

7. Groups - Local. Groups - HR Niches.

8. There should be more number of moderators to check the discussion threads, any member using bad language or personal attacks should be warned immediately. for moderator elections i can say Mr. RK can either send an announcement to members those who want to be moderator can reply him with their profiles also (50%) also their activities on the HR Link can be noted (50%) to choose the moderator, it can give equal chance to senior and junior both.

9. Directory of useful HR Websites - separate tab. Similar to the HR Library tab.

10. Shared Items - Increase the number of "all shared items." Separate professional from other (fun, self help, entertainments, etc.). Faster navigation from the footer bar.

COMPLETED - 10 October 2009.
http://hrlink.in/topics/faster-and-easier-to-navigate-shared-items

11. Faster navigation of pings from footer bar.

12. Favorite forum topics - add to favorites link on every topic page.

13. Favorite News - add to favorites link on every news page.

14. Professional Vs Fun - Please report when a fun topic is posted as professional. When you report, it will not generate an activity feed. So, other members would NOT know that you reported. We will warn the member who posted it and deactivate the profile if the violation is deliberately repeated.

15. Forum Advanced Search - with an option to search only topics with attachments.

16. HR Library should have a search option as well? Similarly the directory of websites and blogs?

17. If a person upload his/her resume once and wants to delete it there is no option for that(deletion).

18. I would suggest we can have a forum where we can discuss about the amendments about HR laws, New HR practices etc.....

19. Their should be some link where we can have a list of topics posted by people. it should be purely posting and not the replies. List forum topics in descending order by date. Update forum home? Forum Topic Archive - Weekly, Monthly, Yearly, All?

20. A section for jobseekers to post availability / looking for job info.

21. Topics started by a member - add this section on a member's forum contribution page. Show 5 with a link to see all with paging.

22. Notifications / follow this topic, in place of watch this topic.

23. Duplicate Forum Topics and Content - by showing related posts on the create a new forum topic page. And then warning members when a topic is reported as duplicate. When you report duplicate content or copyrighed material, it will not generate an activity feed. So, other members would NOT know that you reported. We will warn the member who posted it and deactivate the profile if the violation is deliberately repeated.

COMPLETED - 07 October 2009
http://hrlink.in/topics/duplicate-forum-topics

24. Increase the number of Popular Topics - Is it possible to increase the topic in "Most Popular" under the head of "Forum."

25. Fix the duplicate activity feed problem. E.g. X added Y as a contact appears twice.

26. And also I feel we should add the smileys and emoticons to make the posts more friendly and relaxing.

27. Advertising

28. Premium Memberships

29. Job Posting - exclusively for HR Jobs.

30. An exclusive section / mini site for HR Freshers?

31. Remove the "delete pings" option. Provide an option to change public to private and vice versa.

COMPLETED - 07 October 2009
http://hrlink.in/topics/delete-pings-option

32. HR Eagles / HR Thought Leaders - Exclusive mini site for senior professionals / c level executives.

33. Microblogging :)

34. HR Yellow Pages - businesses, ATS, Job Websites, SaaS, software, tools, members, etc.

35. HR Blogs

36. Mentoring

37. Easy Links to HR News, HR Jobs, HR Forums, HR Community, and HR Videos.

This is right step in right direction and HRLink is going to be more progressive, more user friendly and it gives a feeling not only to me but to many members of this site...a feeling of seeing their baby thriving and growing day by day with all splendour and glory. Yes, this is our baby and we all nurture it and make it more beautiful and wonderful.
Excellent and we should all welcome these changes with open hands.
Bravo RK and team!

AS requested I am posting the stuff discussed here:

1. Numbering:

Is there anyway a number is generated for each response when a forum is posted? I have just noticed that in one of my recent forums I had to repeatedly refer to some previous responses and it would have been much easier if there is a numer assigned to each response.

2. Editing Tools ( Underline, font, save etc like on MS Word)

Is there anyway there are editing tools added to the window when you start to draft a new post on the forum? It's just that more so often I had to compose a lengthy subject or response and it's a bit inconvenient to draft something so legthy in one sitting. If we have the editing tools as suggested above I can save the draft come back and do it at my own convenience. Also if you ahve checked my recent forum I had to use some phrases in CAPS because I didn't have an option to put them in bold or underline or change the colour of the font.

2. Forum (Start & Finish)

Is there anyway you can give an option - "Close the Forum" so that the initiator of the forum if feels necessary to close the forum can actually close it?

All the above have been just a few passing thoughts , not sure how they fit into your website's design/purpose. Please ignore these if they happen to conflict with your ideas.

One more. Is teher anyway HRLink can have an option to take a poll? I know we can do it on Outlook but it's out f question for me to gather the emial addresses.

Subject for the poll:

Following on from my recent heated debate , the heated conversations apart I realised whilst follwoing the case that there are actually stricter guidelines laid by the supreme court on various work place issues. So I wanted to ask all the members of the forum to vote (yes or no) if they feel that they are using the statutory legal (HR) guidelines in their day-to-day duties. If they are not in HR do they think that their HR policies are in line with the statutory guidelines.

Let me know if this is possible.

Thank you Shalini for your suggestions.

Will keep everyone posted on the progress.

The poll - it's on my list and takes time to see light.

You may move forward with starting a forum topic on the guidelines of the honorable Supreme Court of India.

Thanks,
RK

RAM,

few more idea came in my mind hope you and members will like

1. Release weekly/ daily letter to the members with the option given in member's profile to change it weekly or monthly.

Daily - we can send news, jobs and discussions, topic heading on the top, clicking on the same you can go to the same.
Weekly - A gamut of all topics and new or any update in a single mail for those who don't want to check it daily and want mails weekly only as some have bulk mails to check

2. Depending upon the content and grading (thumbs, visits and replies) we can ask to make it featured (vote option to make it featured or moderator decide) so as to get any topic useful to all more easily, like this topic we don't have to find the link.
Also if any member forgot to make it favorite or any new member of the site can get these topics.

3. Display of the name, designation and location with mouse over to make it easy rather then checking the complete profile (like when accepting the invite)

4. We should know the people from our mail id who are already member of this site with the logo on their name so that we can invite them without any hesitation rather then inviting people from complete list as my id have 1000s of name who has sent me their cv or i ever sent them any mail, even i don't remember many of them.

5. As you know i reported a fake consultant on the site (all of the sudden i realized some messy) and your team handled it very well, can it be possible to know about the background or questionare filled by that member, any kind of precaution before sending the resume access request. Even blocking option from the search criteria for the companies we want to. (for the future reference)

plz friends have a look and suggest. I hope RAM this time too we will get a positive revert.

regards to all

Thank you Shalini for your suggestions.

Will keep everyone posted on the progress.See Ramakrishna Varma's complete reply

RAM start and finish should not be given in the hands of author, it is good enough as is it. Moderators should have right to end the topic, also if given formating option then it will be really nice to see the changes though you can give fewer options rather then MS word options.

Hello Shipra,

Great to see these ideas. We heartily appreciate you for your ideas and taking the time to articulate them!

I can see that each of your ideas is a result of you using HR Link and thinking about improvements while observing and probably making notes on how it currently works.

Would appreciate feedback from other members.

Will move forward with implementation. Will keep you all posted on the progress.

As always, we welcome and appreciate more ideas from all members.

Thanks,
RK

Mr. Rama Krishna,

I have been reading your posts on hrlink for sometime now.Reading them has been a learning experience for me so far.In fact, I heard a lot about you from my sister Manjari who respects you a lot for your talent and attitude.I would like to contribute a few articles to his site in future.I feel we can post a set of ideas related to core HR activities like MBO, OD, EI, etc., so that they can be exchanged with other professionals.I would like to thank you for putting real efforts to mould hrlink into a universal learning mode.

Regards,
Madhuri
