Delete Pings Option

Admin
Posted 07-10-2009Reply

As suggested by members, the delete ping option has now been removed and a new option provided to change a ping from public to private and vice versa.

This completes implementation of suggestion #31:

http://hrlink.in/topics/feedback-ideas-and-suggestions-to-make-hr-link-more-useful

Please use the new option and let me know if come across any errors or bugs.

Regards,
RK

Hi RK,

Removing just the "Delete All Pings" tab would have been sufficient. But this removal of the whole "delete" tab is kind of inconvenient.

Coz now if we want to delete some normal pleasantries exchaged in our pings we dont have the option to do that. I dont want to download all pings to save some important pings from members.

Can you please have a look at it?

Thanks
~Raghav V

Hi RK,

Hello Raghav,

As I've explained via pings, there has been enough discussion on this already:

http://hrlink.in/topics/do-we-need-to-gi ve-members-the-option-to-delete-pings-fr om-others-profiles-both-private-and-public

We have taken all the feedback and suggestions into consideration and implemented them as wanted by majority of the members.

Downloading all pings will take only a minute. You can keep what you need and delete the rest from the downloaded file. Other way is to copy-paste a specific ping that you think is important.

Hope it would be ok to spare that one minute once in a few days so most other members would get what they want.

Thanks,
RK

Also, as you can see from the original discussion, this feature has been requested to prevent abuse, especially of the lady members.

Some members would make a derogatory / unpleasant remark via a ping, and delete it later leaving no trace for the other member to report it. They can't do this now as a ping is not deletable.

Many members believed this feature would help keep HR Link a clean and healthy community and discourage those sick people who take advantage of the ping delete option.

Thanks,
RK

Oh ok. Thanks for taking time in explaining it RK.

I have no issues in taking a minute or so in downloading the pings and saving it :-). Its just that tendancy of trying to get things done in couple of cliks ;-).. Now its gonna be a couple of clicks more. But i very well uphold your reason for this feature.

Thanks once again.

Hi Ram,

It's a great move. I have been inactive for somewhile and just wanted to reply for this. This removal of Delete option will refrain from persons who really wants to abuse or use filthy language. it will induct a fear in them. I'll rate this change as No.1 , the best change i have seen for the past one year.

Regards,

Rajesh

yes Shipra, I agree with you. I have seen and been part of so many such useful posts like yours in my tenure here and almost all of them greatly benefitted the members. And almost each time most of the suggestions were implemented.

Kudos RK. :)

Please let me know if I can help in anyway.

Cheers !!!
