Dear All,

I have received an employment offer for this company through the screening process of the said Renfield Recruitment Agency.

And there is a lady named Nora Ray who sent me that Employment Letter and she signed as the person in charge of HRD in Duramex Petroleum, London UK.

In the employment letter it was mentioned that I need to contact another visa services agent that will process my visa and work permit to start on with the job and I have to shoulder first the expenses and later will be reimbursed to me.

They have emailed me the confirmation letter "Even w/o attending any telephonic interview nor screening" and terms & conditions letter with a tempting offer.

Please ignore these Job Scams, they are rising in higher level as now there is retrenchment and recession globally they just collect resumes from Monster, Naukri etc somehow and try getting their hands on our accounts, credit cards, SSN & other vital items.

So beware and double check if you get another offer from a Fraudsters company. Am attaching the copies of their fraud work for all of your reference.

Pls. check the documents they have managed to send me in the below link.

Ppl should take utmost precautions when dealing with such agencies. They not only ask for money as Visa fees but also some agencies send ppl to different countries with many promises but will actually end up in some manual labor. We have heard of sad stories wherein such people's passport were seized by the respective employer and were forced to work for long hours for less pay.

We should never get carried away by Lucrative pays. Nice post Arsha

Hi Arsha,

Well, I don’t think this has anything to do with recession period...

It’s a matter of common sense...!!!

Specially being in HR field, we all know what are the levels we need to cross, as an employer or employee to reach to the "offer letter" stage!

Starting with short listing, calling for the interview ( at least a phone call !!) Different round of interviews, technical, personal, employer/employee understanding and discussions, negotiations on salary and notice period...etc. isn't it?

So how can anyone just accept an offer ( just coz of a tempting pay! ) and do all the payments without having a clear picture or at least trying to reach out to the person who has sent the mail !?!?

On what basis she/he has been approved for the job?!

I had a friend with similar problem, she is a fresher, and she had a mail from a so called Company from Delhi. for an offer of 45k per month ! but prior to that she had to deposit 20K into an account, to process her other joining formalities!!!!

I could only suggest and show her some few points which made it obvious about the "fake" offer letter :

1) She was not contacted by any one... ( how can anyone be selected without
even discussing anything on her expertise? that too for a fresher !!! )

2) Company mail was sent from GMAIL account !!
( the company doesn't even have a proper email
address /website !?..however, now a days its not a big
deal to have a website, and create email IDs.)

3) The account which the amount had to be deposited was a personal
account and the account owner was not on Company's name, but a
single person.

4) The mail was not addressed to anyone in particular, I guess he might
have just shoot a bcc mail to all freshers, who are struggling to get into
a job somehow.... ! Unfortunately its being practiced to bribe freshers for
getting them into a job ! :(

I guess these reasons are enough for one to understand ! :)

Anyway thanks for the post Arsha,

Arsha

Am well aware of what would be rounds of screening...
And also am aware it has nothing to do with recession...!!! But its a warning ! an alert check to all my friends out their so that they would forward it to their near n dear ones who might b in need of a job and finally when they find somethin like these offerz...!!! So i would lik every1 2 b in caution and B'Ware of Job Scamz...!! Especially Durin Recession Period...!!!

Ms Arsha, what you have feared is absolutely right. I searched and found out some informations about Duramex. For more Info you can visit

http://www.oil-offshore-marine.com/bewarejobscams.php#7

Also below points will be useful for anyone to find out about these kind of mails.

Ways to discover if a job offer made to you is real or scam.

Answers: There are several methods you can use to determine whether a recruiter or employer is real, and acting in good faith. Generally speaking, if you are made a job offer by a company to whom you never applied before and, still, they make you a job offer without even having interviewed you, that is a clear job scam. But let's see some possible scenarios:

a) First of all, look at the web address from which the pretended recruiter or employer send the email. For instance, let's you get an email from "Shell UK ", but when you look in the From: field, you see this "Shell UK" - "shelluk@yahoo.com". If this is the case, it is clearly a job scam. Why? Because real companies, acting in good faith never use free email providers (such as Yahoo!, AOL, MSN, GMAIL and so forth).

b) Second, let's say you get an email from a so called Xaturnico Oil Company. The email comes from "Xaturnico" - "career@xaturnico.com". So far so good, there are high chances that the company exists, and the domain name (xaturnico.com) matches the company's name, Xaturnico. Also, the domain xaturnico.com is valid, working, uploaded on hosting and the company has a web presence (no "currently under construction" appears). Now you need to dig further - read the email, see what they are saying. If they use fancy words, and make you a job offer with a very high salary comparing to your current salary or to the market rates, or if they are asking for an advance payment (either by PayPal, check, wire transfer or other form), or if they are asking you to forward them any personal information (such as credit card information, bank account details, etc), that is a job scam! DO NOT send them any payment, and do not provide them with any personal information.

c) Third, let's assume you get an email fro Wakutty Oil. The email comes from "Wakutty Oil" - "recruitment@wakutty.com". There are high chances that the company exists, and the domain name (wakutty.com) matches the company's name, Wakutty. Also, the domain wakutty.com is valid, working, uploaded on hosting and the company has a web presence (no "currently under construction" appears). They are rather smooth, they don't ask anything from you, you exchange emails with them, everything is ok, then, after 2 weeks (or, if they are very patient, after 2 months), they suddenly say they need an advance payment (either by Paypal, check, wire transfer or other form), or they are asking you to forward them your personal information (such as credit card information, bank account details, etc), that is, yes, a job scam. DO NOT send them any payment, and do not provide them with any personal information.

d) In order to gain your trust, these scammers / fake companies might even say they need your medical information, previous employment status, and so forth. Do not disclose this information to anyone you do not know and whom you cannot check (either in person or by official ways).

e) There are other scenarios we have yet to hear of. Stay cautious! Email us if you hear of anything new, so we can put it here and benefit others.

Regards,

Rajesh

These incidents happen at regular intervals. Earlier it used to be for some hotel industry based out of UK. I knew couple of people who have lost their money depending on these mails. In fact the correspondence they send are so realistic that people get carried away.

Posts like these would throw more light to issues like this and would keep people away from getting carried. Thanks Arsha for your post.
