Dear friends, I wanted to ask you a question today and I hope we would have some good perspectives thrown up to cover all the tangents involved.
Mr. X and Ms. Y, working in the same company are romantically involved with each other. In simple terms, they are in love. As a society, we are voyeuristic by nature and hence this becomes the biggest office gossip. Eventually it comes to the HR department. Here I would mention that the two said individuals are top performers, do not work in the same teams, and have never showed in-appropriate behaviour on the floor.
My question to each one of you is, what should be the HR department’s response ? Please try to cover your responses on various tangents that include behavioural, moral and organizational aspects.
Look forward to a meaningful discussion among the best brains in the industry.
Regards, Harish
This is very good post.
Professional and personal life are different. The said both the individuals are perfectly maintaining it. Though they have affairs with each other and they have their own limits in office. So as from HR perspective, No action can be taken against them.

It is really a different post.
The Two Individuals, have never showed in-appropriate behaviour on the floor, then My opinion will be - HR Dept should not be punish the two individuals for this. They are not mixing up the personal things in their professional life.
It's a Very good post...
In my view HR department has nothing to do... because they r the top performers of the team and in Individual teams.. even they r not disturbing the office environment... until and unless any employee complains abt this HR department won't involve.

on what basis u confirmed that they are romantically involved with each other
on what basis, the same has been reported to HR Department
How the person is affected by this story, that made the person to be report to HR Department
Ignore all these in Office Environment
When we give importance it grows Up..
Since the Professional life of the both has not been affected because of their personal matter and their floor behaviour is also good there is no need for HR interference on the same.

Here in Europe their lives are their own. As long as they don't bring it to work. As you say "Here I would mention that the two said individuals are top performers, do not work in the same teams, and have never showed in-appropriate behaviour on the floor." I think that says it all.
My advice is leave them alone, or you'll loose them both.
