Dear All,
Below mentioned are a few point based on which a HR can be successful:
1. A flair for People:
It is said that the outcome becomes irrelevant to a large extent if the intentions are noble. Internal customer advocacy is something which differentiates a good HR Professional from the average ones. Whichever organization one is working with, the role of HR always remains that of a caretaker and the custodian of the 'soul of the organization'.Most of the organizations are striving to become 'employer of choice'.This means that there is a strong need of people who can take care of people. If your really want a clear USP for yourself in this profession, you will strive to get the acceptance of your internal customers before anything else.
2. Conceptual Knowledge:
You need to have an in depth conceptual knowledge. This gives you a lot of credibility in front of your internal and external customers. Its sad to notice that most of the people on the delivery side have come to perceive HR as a non-technical 'thin-air' profession. It's up to us to change that image and come across as experts in our domain at all platforms.
3. Result - orientation:
By virtue of being a 'support' function, business always has dependencies on HR. The demonstration of result-orientation whenever it is called for, helps strengthen our image in from of the stakeholders.
4. Communication:
Last but not the least, having a strong communication capability is an absolute must for any HR Professional. This is required not for excelling but for survival.

Hi Krupali,
Successful people aren't born that way. They become successful by establishing the habit of doing things unsuccessful people don't like to do. The successful people don't always like these things themselves; they just get on and do them.
So it doesnt matter what subject you choose.
Successful people are successful because they form the habits of doing those things that failures don't like to do.

Yes MBA will def add up for ur career growth as said by pradeep,it more into managing employees necessity i feel people from technical background should also be included in hr team,so that even handling clients while technical discussion would be at ease.
Hi Krupali,
Sorry for the late reply...
Your question is very relavant in today's world. As an MBA Student, I would like to raise the following points with due respects to univerisities professors and students concerned.
First, MBA - Does it being taught in universities as it should be taught?
Does universities impart Management lessons or just theories in motivation and leadership (for example)?
Does universities allow a management student to get involved in managerial activities of real time business in his MBA?
Does the curriculum include only relevant subjects to his specialisation?
for example : I am doing MBA HR.But i have a subject "International Business Management" which deals with lot of economic terms which i would hardly use in my HR career. What is the relevance of this...?
Real aim of universities is to award a name sake MBA and real aim to students is to get a degree and not knowledge in management.
Finally, Question paper and evaluation aims to examine only theoretical knowledge of the student.Evaluation is done keeping in mind number of papers written and not quality of the answers.
In many cases MBA projects are downloaded from net and submitted.Where is real project work in MBA ???
All these situation does not pertain to one particular university and this is the condition in many institutions now...
These are facts. And in these circumstances success cannot be attributed to being an MBA. Definitely not. Mr.Dhirubai Ambani,Mr.Bill Gates,Mr.Narayana Murthy all these successful people were not MBA. So success is not being MBA.
I request members to comment on my statements and tell me if I am wrong in any respect. My sincere regret if I have hurt any MBA's feeling..

Hello Mr. Sudharshan,
I go with you, Success in career is not something related to one's educational qualification. May be it helps a candidate to get into companies once he is out of college/universities. MBA is an additional qualification which one can project to obtain a suitable job. And nowadays there are lot of students who does MBA only for adding it on their list of qualifications. Quality lacks, what is the use of doing MBA or XYZ.. This is my opinion, correct me if im wrong.
Warm Regards,
Swaminathan.
