Dear All,
There is a gre8 need of women to the society,In a desire for a male child many female foetuses are aborted every year and now this has become a trend. We can simply make out the effects of this trend by knowing the fact that in many families the boys have only brothers, no sisters.
Since the number of girls is falling in the rural areas, so, in many villages parents are unable to find a suitable match for their sons. Recently in a distant village of Rajasthan a bride was married to not one or two but to eight grooms and all of them were brothers.

I'm so sorry Meenakshi as I'm little late in reacting to your post.
The woes of women are unending and you can get lots of material on web. As long as differences and disparities are there in society between people the woes of women continues fuelled by chinks in our legal and political system.
We had a very lively discussion about "Every Women Is Worth A Lot" (thanks to Priya) long back in these forums which is still fresh in my mind and I would like to share that link with you and with all my friends once again to recollect the injustice and exploitation being faced by women despite so many advances and developments. Please go through this post as this will be definitely useful for you as it has come from the hearts of large number of HRLink members.

Hi Meena
My suggestion would be...adopt a village near by and start your initiative on"female feticide, child marriage, Dowry, child labor ..etc". . as per ur agenda,
- do a road show
- make stage performances, group activities, etc
- build groups locally and keep up the campaign live
- track your progress thorugh indirect surveys
you can also join the programs organised by the rural development dept. ( govt. authorised)
if you are looking for list of NGO`s supporting such projects. You can find it in
http://www.ngosindia.com/ngos.php
this site has all the ngo supporting variuos projects on variuos causes.
Hope this helps your need
Cheers
