Hi All,

I request you to give me your views on this. One of the Staff under me as put the paper and from the day when she has put the paper, her tone has changed and she uses her rough tone. Also she have never argues with me, but after resigning she has started to argue with me rudely and she forgot to give respect to a Team lead. She has 10 more days to serve. I have been very wounded and not able to concentrate on my work because the words she has spoken has hurted me, when i told my boss he said lets talk it directly as he was not in Chennai. Is there anything i can do to this, how can i cure my Wound. Can i take any legal action against her. I only know HR Link is the only place to answer my queries. Please help.

Regards,

Rajesh

Hi Rajesh!
As she is going to leave in another 10 days you can't do anything legally and I only advise you to talk to her and find out why she is behaving like that.Certainly there should be a reason behind her behaviour. This can be sorted out by talking to her and find out the reason in more amicable manner.

Cheers!
Pradeep

Hello Rajesh,

As Pradeep has mentioned already that there is very limited actions you can take against her, all you can do is have a direct ‘face–to-face’ word with her. Incase nothing works this way, the best way to keep you calm and focused on work is – Ignorance.

People with such nature/ character wont bend so easily particularly when they are aware of their attitude – so just be ignorant. Try not to create any situation that would lead to irrelevant arguments.

PS:- you could also refer forum topic posted by Diana :- “http://hrlink.in/topics/how-to-deal-with-an-employee-who-is-going-to-be-an-ex-employee-very-soon” .

I am very much sure this would help you !

Cheers
Ashwini

Hi Rajesh,

You have two options here one is just ignore her as she has 10 days laft and you cannot take any action against her and

the other is talk to her in an informal way during early working hours or lunch or after her working hours.

Give a overview of her efforts as your team member and appreciate the same. Make her feel that she was/is an important team member. Perhaps this may change her attitude and come out of the grudge ,if any, she had during her tenure with the team.

Bye

Hi Pradeep,

Really Thanks for your suggestion. I have already spoken to her once and this is the second time she is repeating again, that's the reason i didn't know what to do. Anyways i have spoken to her but the words she has spoken has wounded me very much, but i don't like to take any revenge on her, i'm waiting for the days to get over.

Thanks for your suggestions Ashwini, yes i have gone through that Topic earlier, as you said we can't mend people who are argumentative or arrogant in nature. As you said i'm ignoring her, i think that's the best way to handle a employee. But i will lose my control over since my boss has asked to make her perform till she is here as she is a Non-Performer.

Rajesh

Hi Kolli,

She was arrogant some 2o days back, as you said i spoke to her informally and encouraged her, but she have never changed her character and attitude and repeated this second time. Shall we take any actions like sending her out immediately?

Rajesh

Hi Rajesh,

If she was a non-performer and the same was proved and if she is indulging in unnecessary arguments with co-employees (not alone with you) and disturbing the office environment you can immediately relieve her as there is no need to keep such an arrogant person for long time. This should be done after giving her an opportunity to behave herself and mend her ways otherwise show her the door immediately.

Cheers!
Pradeep

In that case Rajesh, you would need to set some expectations to your boss too. It would help to let your boss know about ground realities and ensure you capture this conversation on an email. This would help you to substantiate later, if needed.

My suggestions would be, if the employee is arrogant and is not behaving, assign work only thru mails. You would need to exercise caution not to show your restlessness with her performance show in the mails though. She would be forced to perform, in spite of not wanting to. This way, you avoid a direct confrontation, which doesnt anyway help, and to get your work done. In case she doesnt perform, she would have to prove it since its documented. Let me know if you need any other input.

Thanks for suggestions Harish Ji, I have already told my Boss yesterday and he said he will have personal meeting tomorrow, but i don't know how much effective it will be since she has already done the damage.

Yes i have been interacting with her only thru mails, as i wanted to avoid direct conversations with her. As you said she is forced to perform. Thanks for all of you people i'm slowly gaining my confidence.

I just wanted to know If a employee has resigned and when he/she is serving notice period, can he/she start to become rude towards to her team Lead, because my employee was normal till she got a new Job, but now her attitude is changed and she says i have a new Job, also she knows Team Lead doesn't have full rights to sack her off, so she is saying "I will talk to the Boss, you can't do anything". So here does the team lead loses his power and self respect, is there any way to solve it.

Regards,

Rajesh
