Hi Firends,

Its been observed that people from HR are showing interest in IT filed now due to ample of opportunies in the market.

One of my friend is also keen on moving to SAP HR.

I want you to help with your inputs to guide him in the right path.

He is having 5+yrs of recruitments experience and now have plans to shift to IT filed.

I suggested him to continue on functional side but he talks about the opportunities on the other side like

Huge package

Onsite opportunity

opportunity to work with MNC's etc

Please help him to take up the right choice.

Regards,

Latha

Hi Latha,

Your friend is right when he says that IT field has huge package, onsite opportunity, and opportunity to work with MNC's

If he has 5+ years of experience in recruitment, then he should prefer to move out of recruitment and work as a generalist or as a functional consulatnat in SAP HR/ Oracle HRMS or he can choose any one specialization like Training, Labour Laws etc because there is very less scope of career growth in recruitment for senior persons with 5+ experience in recruitment.

But as of now market condition is not good for SAP HR functional consultants. They have to struggle hard before getting the right break. They should go for certification to enhance their profile which costs very high.

Regards,
Sasmita

Hi Latha,

Ref.to the the Career Transition as Functional Consultant is suppose to be very calculative and require a serious though. As you friend saying it gives Global opportunities but in a real role Functional Consultants are expected to carry solid experience in most of the areas in the function he/she choosing besides excellent Product and system Knowledge.

I worked with worlds Top Consultant for ERP - Oracle E Business Suite - HR Module implementation in my company. That require different skill sets and mind set.Another flip side is it require heavy travel from assignment to assignment, that may cost your family and social life, with this i' m not negative in career as Function Consultant but trying to bring some facts

As you mentioning,in Core HR Function also there are tremendous opportunities for Challenging career.
