Hi All,
Looks like searching for a job is indeed a very tough job. Once upon a time, I used to help ppl get jobs, today I m on the other side of the fence. Knowing how this business works, its pretty understandable that its gonna take time but still the patience sometimes runs out. Especially when u come to know that most companies and placement agencies are posting job openings only to build database not realising that they are in the process affecting the confidence and hope of the thousands or probably lakhs of unemployed ppl desperately looking for a job and applying expectantly to hear back, everytime. Also, I dont know whether its is a fact or just an anxious observation that recruiter/ interviewers in Hyderabad just dont get back with the status of selection/rejection after taking the interview. I contacted HR ppl through networking sites, and they just call u for a chat or a 3 hour long discussion just to inform at the end that currently there is no opening, but we will get back as soon as we have one. And such a thing specially coming from good reputed companies.
This has been pretty much my experience in the past 5 months of searching for a job in Hyderabad. Would love to hear some comments/ opinions.
Anuradha
I would also like to comment on job search......I am searching for a job in HR from last 3 months......but the scenario is First of all Rarely I come across jobs of my choice and if at all i liked any and applied, company has never replied me.....
waiting for the day when I would get a call from a company of my choice...................................
I totally agree with you both as searching for a job is not a cake walk these days. I used to wonder everyday after seeing so many jobs in various job portals and why still people are unable to find a job. May be what you said is correct Anuradha. They want to attract more hits and more members. Coming to the role of consultants, I would like to hear from those who are in this field as to how they are going about it. Is it just for the sake of building data bases they are coming with advts and job postings or they are really having the requirements. The views and experiences of all recruitment consultants are most welcome in this regard.
Similarly, as mentioned by you Anuradha the scenario of selection or interview process is not less than a fiasco. I want to share my personal experience in this regard with you and all my friends here.
I have attended for a discussion in a well reputed company recently for a senior position (of course through a consultant). I was made to wait for nearly one hour on the day of discussion and I was given the application blank which took me not less than one hour to complete. Then after submitting the application, I was made to wait for another half an hour and after that I was called for discussion which took almost 45 minutes. After discussion, I was assured that there will be another final round of discussion with Managing Director and then it will be finalised. Oh! I thougt it's great. Then I waited...waited..waited....for almost 15 days but there is no response. So I called up the concerned person one fine day who has discussed with me and he replied that it was not yet discussed with Managing Director so he will get back within 2-3 days. So I waited and waited again. No response. Then I called up the consultant who said that he will revert back immediately. That immediate thing has happened after another cool wait of 2 days and the consultant exploded the bomb finally. The company does not want to recruit now so the position is kept in abeyance. This is the real one which happened in my case may be two months back in Hyderabad.
From this everyone can easily understand how some consultants and companies are taking the candidates on a roller coaster ride in the name of interviews and discussions which not only a waste of time but it creates a lot of stress among the candidates. If they get the job after all that mental trauma it is acceptable but facing the music after so much effort is something which hurts the person a lot.
So, with that kind of bitter experience behind me, I totally agree and endorse your views Anuradha and don't worry we are sailing in the same boat.
Let's hope for good times and keep our fingers crossed.
Cheers!

I totally agree with you both as s... See Pradeep's complete reply
Sir,
for a while i thought you are writing your exp with me, it happens on senior level not only candidate we consultants are waiting for the revert. you can imagine our position, its not waiting only its being answerable to so many persons.
as you know i m into power and energy it becomes difficult to find senior persons in this field and moreover if company is not giving feedback then the position is really awkward.
for now i can say wait for some more time, till then work as a freelancer for any recruitment firm.
For networking sites i can say if you really need a job now then don't look towards any site (my personal exp), only make your terms if you have 6 months to wait.
Both of you (i know you will be trying your level best) update your cv in companies's databank, call recruiters after applying, make changes in your profile for every application if needed
thanks
