Thanks for your reply Raghav, as you said there are other reasons for people quitting, it is true, but i think mostly people quit because of their management. A survey says more percentage of attrition is due to poor management.
Thanks for your reply Rekha, do you have any suggestions for "No Job Satisfaction" area.
Thanks Diana, that was a wonderful explanation of how a manager should be.

Do employees quit companies or quit their managers/bosses?
Type: HR, Report if not a HR topic

What makes a person look out for opportunities? Is it the inefficient organizational policies or inefficient managers ? We often hear people complain about micro management and stressful relationship with their bosses.. Is this what makes them move out of a company? i'm expecting lot of views from all
of you people.
Regards,
Rajesh
Hi Rajesh, Its true that it ALSO one of the reason for Employees to leave companies. But we cant say that it is the ONLY reason. Some quit even if they have very good managers. The reason could be Family relocation, even better Salary, Brand Name (S it DOES happen), etc.,
Now the recession adds fuel to the fire and now the so-far-good managers are forced to wear the masks of hard task master. Thanks to the changing mindset of the ppl in the Top Level of Management. :-) many forget the basic concept of the business "Business if the Social responsibility" but now with the rise in competition, ppl feel if they get money out of anything or by any method. Mid size companies are now focusing on SUSTAINING in the market and started cuting down even on facillities gven to the employees.
Even Managers are the employees of the Organization. So as long as the Organization's Management is keen on employees there wont be any trouble, so once the Board Members start drifting away from Employee Satisfaction all ths crop up!

Hi Rajesh,
Good topic....
Though we can not judge in a simple Q/A form...
Most common reasons:
-- Better pay... no matter where!!
-- Brand name...a well known corporate
-- Update on latest Technologies, well planned training,
-- More opportunities, onsite offers!
-- Relocation...
-- Marriage...
-- Co. policies, rules and regulations...
-- Problems with colleagues...
-- the most important reason : "The Immediate Manager"
Well, there is a saying: When an employee resigns, the immediate boss is to be questioned...
It is very important to have a responsible, cooperative and competent Manager!
We spend more than 1/3rd of our day at office, If there is a "friendly" team, with a capable manager, if you have a good understanding colleagues & comfortable work atmosphere, I don’t think anyone could quit just for few 1000s here and there... except for unavoidable reasons like bigger corporate, relocation, marriage... etc.
