Hi Friends,

I would be interested to know how do you all (especially the HR professionals see the role of a Psychologist in an organization (corporate and industry) in India

Prior to your comments I would like you to consider and ponder upon the prevailing notion of understanding the title 'Psychologist' or 'counseling' and attaching it to 'Clinical' or 'abnormal' psychology i.e. pathological aspects only which is quite a limited outlook.

There are various specializations and what am I considering herein is the expertise in human behavior i.e. the role of psychologists with specialization in 'Industrial and organisational' or 'Counselling' or 'Applied' psychology. Their services can be made available under various denominations like -'life style consultants, trainers, counselors, motivators, life skill coach etc.

The range of profiles psychologists can work under as human behaviour expert may vary accross system and processes that may include - screening, interview, assessment, training/ orientaion, life and soft skills development, conflict mamagement, motivation, personal and professional counselling, employee exit review and feedback, planning and implementaion of policies and so on...

What do you think as an individual?...as an employee..? as an HR professional..?

-Do you feel the need of the services of a human behavior expert in an organisation in today's world?

-Do you think that it can be relaxing, motivating and a healthy practice?

-Do you think having human behavior experts/psychologist/ life style experts on panel can provide a competitive edge to your organization?

-Do you see it helping enhance employee job satisfaction, motivation, and contributing to better conflict management and employee-employer relationship?

-What impact do you think will it bear on organizational growth, employees' efficiency and health of individual, organizational, familial and social relationships?

Kindly feel free to give your inputs even if beyond my limited vision /understanding.Looking forward to your comments,

Really ur topic choice and its centre of aggression to HR Concept is very nice.
Well behavior makes a HR professional to be psychologist and the true weavings by a Hr will lead a healthy and good organisation environment.
An organisation is made by the HR Concept only is a true Jist of Living.

Well again thanks

Hye,

I feel the role of human behavior expert is required in the Organisation where employees work 24 x 7. I guess there should be psycological sessions for "bosses" where they can get to know how to treat their employees and how to get work done from employees thereby increasing the productivity.

Working for long hours not only hampers their family life, but makes them workoholics as well, thereby resulting to stress & poor performance.

Yes, these kind of psycological sessions or counselling is more required for people sitting in Top management...

Hi Tanuja,

I strongly believe that every organisation, every corporate house, every school and college and every institution should have a Psychologist in their premises, because they actually help people to remain motivated in the difficult times and they are like safety valves for the organisation, where people can release their anger, their frustrations and become more productive.
