from your question i can find out you are using MIS report and you only would like to improve. let me give you idea in which manner i am making MIS report.

i am making always in MS excel.

1 sheet = employee's name designation and email Id. in below maner

Name of Department

1. Head of Department
2. All Sr. of that Department
3. All Jr. of that Department
4. All trainee that Department

2 sheet = all employee's personal and professional details.

3rd Sheet = employees salary data (including increments, TDS, other benifist)

4th Sheet = Employees leave record

5th Sheet = In / Out employees record.

6th sheet = Training record.

7th Sheet = Next and previous refreshment programs detail.

you can line all sheet to internally so you can find any data very easily.

This way i am making my MIS Report. if any more our hrlink friends will give their ideas we can make more effective report.
