Is Your Workforce Energized?
There is no denying the fact that your employees become your strength and your greatest asset if treated with respect, trust and compassion. Research has shown that employees who feel good about their jobs are more likely to work hard as compared to those who dislike what they do.
While fair pay is an important factor in keeping an employee happy, there is so much more that your workforce looks for - trust, respect, feedback, training, active participation, having a say in matters, control and above all, the feeling of being needed. Even though most companies realize all this, there are many who still do not give these matters the attention that they deserve.
In order to energize your employees and motivate them to give their 100%, here's what you can do -
Communicate Effectively - One way communication is not enough. Rather, aim for a 2 way communication model that involves your employees in every day tasks and all major discussions.
Build Trust - Let your employees know that they can trust you. Encourage your workers to talk to the management about anything that they may want to ask, discuss or clarify.
Build Their Confidence - Your employees look to you for motivation, encouragement and confidence. Make sure that you give them this if you want them to give their 100% or more to every task that they attempt. Morale building is just as important as goal setting and performance appraisal.
Train Them Well - Training is an inseparable part of work life and it is your responsibility as an employer to train your people well. Schedule weekly / monthly training / feedback / discussion sessions for employees in each department. Send your workforce to attend third party seminars and conferences that can help them to gain first hand knowledge of industry trends and latest developments and thus, boost their productivity at work.
Acknowledge Achievements - Just as it is important to point out mistakes, it is also essential to acknowledge and congratulate an employee for a job well done. Whenever a department / employee achieves more than the set targets, make sure to share their happiness and reward them / him in the form of bonus, trophies etc.
A small gesture on your part can truly motivate your employees to do even better the next time.
Your topic is excellent , very informative ,it is fact that we are facing this kind of situations and one doesn't know how to overcome it . your topic makes many entreprenuers and employees to follow and think in the same way
Good one !!!!!!!!!!
Cheers
Building a delivery centric culture within teams and syncing up even support function's job matrix with end service delivery will help you identify value add across the organization .
That will help non core functions , non customer facing non business teams recognize and evaluate/appreciate their contribution towards organization growth.
I Guess there is a jargon for that "Balanced Scorecarding ".

We do practice this at office...Encouragement and a "tap on the shoulder" is very important, for an employee to build a strong relationship with work place...
We as HRs should learn to see and treat our employees as assets and value them...
we should get to know them by their name, their nature, get involved in their personal life events eg. Bdays, anniversaries,etc... let them feel they are in their " second family "... ( after all we spend mroe than 8 hrs at office, 5-6 days a week....)
Lets not know them just by their employee codes / designation / Departments...etc
if this is practiced well... the "bond" between employee-employer will never break for few thousands here and there/ work place/ brand name of a Co. ...etc
Hope to reach that culture very soon... when everyone goes to office...because they "want" and "enjoy" to go...not since they are "forced" to....
