Hi Diana,

Here are some ideas to start with..

You can plan for outing.. outdoor location like a farmhouse or a resort kind of place would be great.

A presentation of the company that would focus on the ups and down the company has faced right from the inception… Focus on some of the key employees who have contributed to the success of the company … this would be inspiring.

You can also have some competitions like dance, singing, or a stand up comedy ( which would be very entertaining)

Some games like Ek Minute , passing on the parcel or if there are more employees you can also have something like Cricket.

You can also have fashion parade...

Hi Rinku,

Good to see your reply here :)

Thanks a lot for your suggestions..

Yes, we shall go out... 1) coz our office space would not be enough ....2) annual day is something special & needs its own special treat... :)

We do have a summary of achievements & goals for the coming years...each team would share what they have achieved or done new...etc

Well, I have thought of some few games, which involves all the employees... one of the funniest ones (Which everyone liked a lot) was:: finding the chocolates in a plate of flour only with your mouth...while your hands are tied up behind. It was fun since the whole face would be colored white with the flour!!! :)

The other one is like employees need to pick up a chit (which has a name of an object, person, profession...) & according to that they need to enact & others should guess the right answer.

We also ask everyone, to contribute some program from their side e.g. group dance, singing...etc (that depends how free they are to take out time & practice for the same...) :)

I would like to know more about some new & innovative ice-breaking programs...

Hope to get more ideas from other HRs or event management groups & consultants in case they have any proposals...

Thank you once again Rinku... :)

Diana

Hi Diana,

Try to contribute one day salary of each employee to any charity with represent the company name.

I believe this is the best way to celebrate the Annual Day.

That was a very generous suggestion Pandi, thank you,

In fact, we did have this program once, where we had contributed to a orphanage... few of our employees went & represented us...that experience was overwhelming...
The smiles those kids had could not be described by any measures...

Let me see if we can implement it once again, this time as a part of annual day...

A one day outing sounds really great for the occasion.

Employees can be occupied with the Organization stand & falls followed with Recognition awards for the year, and this could be covered up in the first half – start off the day around 9:30 AM and try to wind up around 12:30 noon. (this may also include the welcome drink and the breakfast .. so you start off exactly around 9:00 AM….. )

(I know this has been already suggested, mentioning again with the time sense ;)

Second half – fun time!

People may not be exactly interested in team games as the Resort itself would be more attractive. … so you could plan for team games –

like cricket which keeps majority of them engaged.

OR …- (I had conducted this game an its called the Lighthouse game:-
Blindfold one person and put him/her at one end of a room or outdoor area that has various obstacles in it (i.e. rocks, cones, chairs, trees, etc.). Select at least three of the remaining group members to be "lighthouses" and ask them to stand in various places along the obstacle course.
Give the blindfolded person a handful of candy (one piece for each lighthouse). The job of the lighthouse is to guide the cargo ship (blindfolded person) through the rough waters (obstacle course) safely so that the cargo (candy) can be delivered to each lighthouse.
The first lighthouse must verbally guide the cargo ship through the obstacles and directly to the lighthouse, if this is done successfully the ship will deliver one piece of candy to that person.
The only lighthouse allowed to give directions at a given time is the one that the ship is headed for, but he or she may give support and encouragement after the person has gone past him/her. Any lighthouse whose area the ship has not come to yet must remain quiet until the ship reaches his/her area.
If the ship is put in danger by crashing into an obstacle the guiding lighthouse does not get any candy. Or, if the lighthouse is unable to guide the person successfully to him/her and the ship passes on by, then this person receives no candy and the next lighthouse takes over.
Allow the group members to take turns in the different positions. For large groups, you may have more then one obstacle course going at once.

OR -

Ice breaker game --- where in you divide everyone into team and ask them to come up and give an introduction of themselves in a very creative way with a theme … just an eg:- like politicians … or kindergarten kids (performing in a stage show) … or anything
[However the real identity would be leaked after the performance]

With:-

One minute games like:-
- Tongue twisters:-
Have a print of few tongue twisters with you and ask anyone in crowd to come up and say that 3 or 5 times properly … (keep a tough one ;)

- Pic and Act – (or pictionary)
Get couple of proverbs or anything and divide them into team of 2 or 3 and ask them to draw( If they are poor at drawing make a rule you can enact and explain) … you can make ur own rules while conducting games …. To make it simpler ..

[ If you start off with the games around 2:00 PM .. try to wind up around 3:30 or 4 as they could enjoy few games at the resort]

I would definitely pen down with some more ideas as and when I get ;)

I hope for now … this is worth!

Regards,
Ashwini

Thanks a ton Ashwini...

Of course they were good help & I liked the light house one the most, since we would be having a bigger space...and its all about team efforts...so it makes sense...

We did have a game like what u mentioned about the enacting/pictionary...

Yes, we have the cake cutting, presentations, summary of achievements in the morning session it self... I dont want to drag anything to long,

last year we could not utilise the time, many programs were left untouched :(
due to delay in transport 'coz of the "live music band"...but,of course everyone enjoyed it... :)

Cricket would be great for all men, what about ladies? they should sit and clap!? and it would take a long time...climate will not support as well, this is hot Hyderabad!!! not the cool, pleasant Bangalore ;-) ... LOL

Tongue twisters are ready...got them from HRlink it self ;)

Well, I am eagerly waiting for your ideas to come ... :)

Hi Diana;

I think there should be a rock concert or any Dance programme. interaction session, fun games so that the employees interact. What I mean is there is lot of tallent pool within the people which has to come out. This would be a kind of relaxation for the employees as well. Also you can have few games in the function in the end.

With this people not only feel that there is some thing else that can be done apart from normal work meeeting deadlines TAT etc. If there is a clash of tallent along with entertainment there you can see loads of fun and enjoyment . Also if the managers also involved more informally this can turn out to be a very memorable event. Overall the annual party have to be informal.

Regards:)

Thanks a lot for your suggestions Prassan,

Yes, we did have a live music band group...& it was fun...enjoyed their play... and we had some of our employees showing their talent in singing...specially in the top management...

Ofcourse it has to be an informal program...thats the day we need to celebrate all our efforts when we were "formal" in an informal way ;)

Once again, thanks for sharing your thoughts...will keep in mind :)
