Replied to "Migraine" in General Awareness!!

Thanks Clauadia for having shared this topic. I never knew that this has an increased risk of cerebral and cardiac strokes.

I get prone to migrane everytime i get exposed to sunlight ,when i dont eat on time, stress and as you said, changes in the daily schedule. Most of the times i dont take any medication .. I sleep with lights totally off and a pillo on my head... this makes me feel better....

Hey Rajesh,

I had just focussed on this point only ( Gradual decrease), but i missed reading your reply.

Thanks for the other tips Health consciousness, Family perspective, cost effectivenss , walking... This was very informative especially from someone who has been experiencing it.
Thanks for your responses…. Claudia, Diana, Ramakrishna, Rimi, Ashutosh,

Ramkrishna …Your tips were very simple and valuable. Belief in GOD can make you do anything.
When we decide to do something, it has to be “NOW” and not tomorrow or some other day, after all this is not a Puja that we look for a mahurat and stuff. This is life and it is always uncertain… you never know what would happen tomorrow.

It very apt when we say that “they are responsible for their own actions”… but still most of them end up giving such excuses and we buy them also . I know a couple of people who have been smoking since quite sometime now (since 20 yrs now) who are quite aware of the ill effects of the smoking , who also long to have a smoke free life… But are unable to do it… as Claudia said the addiction is very strong. But I feel we ( Family and Friends) also need to understand them….Like giving up smoking at once might sound good in some cases, whereas in the other cases it has to come down gradually. For ex: a person smoking like 20 cigs per day, can start with like 4 per day initially and then gradually reduce it.

I totally agree with whatever you have mentioned Diana…. But my concern was the Government…. What was the intention behind this ban ? Is the purpose been served? NO. If the Government is strict enough in imposing this ban this would actually help the strugglers who are already fighting within themselves. As anyways Ban on Manufacturing is out of question, atleast this could be done for the “Life” of its citizen. From the statistical figure that Claudia had mentioned it is quite evident that “Smoking” kills more people than any terrorists does. Then why is this Government not acting….
Sure, i would do it.... i would take my son out and have a feel of the nature minus technology.
Thanks Rajila.... my only motive is awareness and iam glad you have forwarded them to your friends.
Thanks Claudia for sharing this.. was very informative. Not many of know that 24 March 2009 is World TB Day ... the statistics mentioned in the article are very scary.

Apart from the TB of the lungs , which other parts of the body can get infected with TB ?

This is awesome claudia...

This would defintely motivate any chronic smoker. I will pass it on to all my friends.

It is very sad and disheartening that no body is participating in this discussion. This is for a good cause, request all of you to share your views and experiences.
Our discussions might actually help those who have even 0.1% of desire to quit smoking.
This link is very informative, thanks Cluadia.

I totally agree, that the best way is to establish date.... its like setting a target for yourself..... prolonging it might make you weak as well and yes support from family and friends is equally important.

Passive Smoking … we missed it ....This link would give a detailed insight on the effects of passive smoking: http://www.chantixhome.com/passive_smoking_effects.html

Ban on manufacturing cigarretes is the best solution.. and im sure government would not do so as most of the revenue is generated from this business. But some intiative can definetley be taken by the government like increasing the tax on these products, which would inturn result in steep rise in price of a cigeratte pack.. some countries are already following this.

Just imagine how many ppl die bcoz of this habit on a daily basis... and still we turn a deaf ear to this cause considering this to be a habit...
Thanks a ton Claudia for your reply.. i had actually posted this forum for more than a month now... didnt c any response.. but this time i was sure you would revert ;)

I really appreciate your efforts in gathering data regarding smoking effects... . i wish there would actually be a ban on manufacturing cigerattes ;)

Replacing smoking with another habit sounds good... provided the victim is willing to do so.... I would also like to add meditation as a substitute.... this would give that inner strength and detremination required to quit smoking ( my views)

How about counselling / psychotheraphy ?... would that work? ... what impact would that have ?

Nicotine patches.... are they safe ... coz i have read somewhere that it has many side effects? Claudia, Looks like i have loaded you with many questions :) ( i feel your expertise in the medical field would throw much light on this)

How fair is it to have a special smoking zone for offices / restuarants and other public places ? Do we actually see the ban? Is this not alluring the smokers?

I want everybody to please participate and share their views and experiences on this...
