Factories Act, 1948 i have heard amended in 1987, 1952 is PR act, provident fund, plz make me clear on this ground.

Factory act 1948
Objectives:
The Factories Act provides for the health, safety, welfare, service conditions and other aspects of workers in factories. The Act is enforced by the State Government who frame rules that ensure that local conditions are reflected in enforcement.
The Act as amended in 1987 also regulates the safeguards to be adopted for the use and handling of hazardous substances.

Applicability:
The Factories Act extends to whole of India and is applicable to all 'factories' including government factories.
It applies to all factories employing more than 10 people and working with the aid of power or employing 20 people and working without the aid of power.
Factory however does not include a mine covered under the mines Act, 1952, a mobile unit of the armed forces, a railway shed or a hotel, restaurant or eating place.

The act covers all workers employed in the factory premises or precincts directly or through an agency including a contractor, involved in any manufacture.

PF Act 1952
Objectives:
The Employees' Provident Funds and Miscellaneous Provisions Act provides for the compulsory institution of contributory provident funds, pension funds and deposit linked insurance funds for employees. The act aims to ensure a retiral benefit to secure the future of the employee after retirement.

Applicability:
The Employees' Provident Funds and Miscellaneous Provisions Act extends to whole of India except State of Jammu and Kashmir.
The Act Applies to industries specified in Schedule I employing 20 or more persons and any other class of establishments employing 20 or more persons notified by the Government.
The Government may apply the Act to establishments employing less than 20 people.
Employees covered under the act include contract labour but exclude apprentices, trainees, directors, working partners, domestic servants and contractors.
Establishments can seek exemption from any or all the provisions of the act.

one more act Mines act - 1952.

you can find the acts applicable in India in labor laws or any site of labor laws.

Dear Friend, find attached a useful link for many Acts. But i am afraid that whether we have any Act as referred by you. It is a central Act and nothing to do with a separate state in specific. It is applicable to whole of India except J & K.

Hi Shipra,

How are you doing, hope well. Thanks for replying my post. And its not exactly Act, its like Rules for Amendment of Factories Act 1948. Because for State we should call Rules and national level we should call Act. Any how thanks a lot Shipra. Have a good day.

Thanks,

Koti.
