Hi! Priya
Dont quite agree with you on this one.
Probably carrying patriotism a bit too far. Is there any harm in a punjabi being proud of his individual heritage. Or for that matter should a Gujarati lineage to be an indian.
India is a multifaceted country lets be proud of it - but that does mean we have to compromise on our individual identities. We are not chinese or cummunist who cant tolerate any deviation. We are indians and thrive on accepting this diversity.

Hi! Priya
Thought provoking but I would like to take a different angle.
Lets learn a bit from the Indian ad industry which regularly wins Golds at the leading Ad events of the world. It shows that are truly world class - that they have gained global acceptance. They have understood the pulse of the global advertising community - atleast the award givers.
Now to get an Oscar is a great thing. Nothing to be shamefull about.
Question is do we keep making movies for the Indian Audience and indian tastes and the world to gulp it down and thrown in a few of their best awards on top.
Kind of unrealistic.
Instead why not learn from this movie. the way it has been made.
The movie obviously has a westerners perspective. Probably someone who has spent a month in Mumbai - someone who has scratched the surface of the mumbai underbelly.
Lot of what has been shown is undigestable to quite a few amongst us.
But, there is a lot to be said about the way it has been presented.
I guess thats what gave them the Oscars.
Lets use this as another learning opportunity(knowing what works) and move on.
