Hello priya,
Hats off to your memory power but once in a way , we all tend to suffer from selective amnesia or tend to duplicate messages posted earlier (may be it can benefit to few who didn't have the opportunity to read it or someone who has joined the group recently) .
Infact most of the postings here are from various linkedin group postings ,personally i feel it's better to avoid rebutting someone for repeating an old posting etc.
An old humour or a joke etc ON "MY BAD DAY AT work " may make my Day .
cheers

hi Vinay,
May be you can start thinking based on shalini's suggestion .
Any Govt Dept expects records and hard copy as reference and proof . Nobody is going to take the trouble to do a reference check personally with his previous employer -so best is to get his service certificate endorsed by an officier in the rank of Gazatted officier and currently servicing in the same school and submit to the concerned employment exchange etc .
Since most banks are computerized ,he can submit the bank statement to support the same .
If your friend can collect copies of documents like his signed muster roll /attendence register / ESI/P.F number details etc or any other internal communication of the school wherein his name has been mentioned -circulars/time table etc / similar documents can be collabrated as proof .A certified registered letter can be sent to the school (with supporting documents) requesting them to issue a service certificate ( the school may not like to mention the salary details etc incase they have voilated the minumum salary act pertaining to that area/ incase of Govt aided schools the salary must be been under paid contradicting official records ) .
Interstingly - the same things happens in well organized - so called U.S BASED companies operating in India ;wherein appointments happen on a "Consultant mode " as shirpa had mentioned .These companies claim that they are not bound to give any releiving letter ( as per thier own rules!!!!! ) ;atleast in these cases an employee has the offer letter and bank statement as proof . It's the discretion of the new employer to do a reference check etc .
Fighting it "legally " means time/money/energy ( as shirpa pointed out ). whether your friend has the leverage and time ? secondly -it may go against him as per " Selective -Govt Rules" ????,Best is to get the required certificate on Emotional/Moral and ethical grounds from the school management.
Trust the views shared ,may be of use -

Hi guys ,
A recent article about a device invented in Japan to actually convert the " dog language " into words to be understood by humans .
It's a collar device and the owner can monitor the pets movements and play the dogs communication/ recordings .It's supposed to be costing around $400 and will be available in the .market in 2010
Who says Dog's don't talk or communicate ? unlike CATS ??-LOL (no offence meant to CAT lovers )
