IF THE JOB IS RELATED TO FINANCIAL SECTOR (CASHIER) THEN U CAN DEMAND SOME REFERENCE CHECK OR ELSE IT'S A TIME WASTING FUSS.

With regards to the topic it is depend on the Profile, you are offering too. Otherwise it is unnecessary, You can identify at the time of F2F interview.
