I need a help. I have a doubt.
The employees getting less than Rs. 10,000 per month are laible for ESIC. But those are getting more than 10,000 are they also getting ESIC?
If not what medical benefits they can get?
Good Question Alok,
I am not a right person to guide you but, somewhere in this forum only I read that, the contribution for ESIC is:
For Employee: 1.75% of Basic
For Employer: 3.75% of Basic
and the maximum ceiling for this is Rs. 10,000/- if the candidate is getting his salary more than Rs. 10000/- then he is not eligible for the ESIC benefit.
But I dont knw wht sorts of benefit they will get, if their salary exceeds Rs. 10,000/-. Give me some time, i'll search and then I'll surely get back to you soon.
Regards
Priyanka

Hi alok according to my knowledge,a person covered under ESIC act is not covered under workman's compensation Act.The % contribution is
1.75%-employee
4.75%-employer
So a person not under ESIC act will be covered under workman's Compensation Act and will be provided with the facilities given y different companies in different percentages.
Please excuse me if I am wrong.

Dear Alok,
Hi,
The Salary limit for the coverage of ESIC is Rs 10,000/- and
the Employee Contribution is 1.75% on Total Salary.
Employer Contribution is 4.75% on Total Salary.
The contribution period is Oct-March & April - Sept.
The medical benefits can be availed after 9 months of contribution period.
Even though If any employee exceeds the above ceiling limit in between these contribution periods both the Employee and employers contributions have to be paid till the end of the contribution period and even after the end of the contribution period employee can avail free medical treatment from ESIC up to nine months with out monetary benefits.
In case of employees salary exceeding Rs 10000 there is no obligation on the part of the employer to provide medical benefits. however employer can voluntarily opt for medical benefit, road safety policy etc.
In case of female employees maternity benefit is guarded by the maternity benefit act 1972 .
I hope your query is answered
