Hi All,
It’s highly unlikely that any employee would object to making a good salary. But is it too simplistic to think that money buys happiness?
Majority of the people who work are from middle class, lower middle class and as per the trend is going on, every person wants to fulfill their needs. The needs are endless.
I’m not denying money can put a smile on most people’s faces, I’m wondering if this may be a case of what came first — the chicken or the egg. Instead of considering that money buys happiness, how about thinking of it as more money comes to people who like their jobs. If you like your job, you’re more likely to put in that extra effort, which is recognized by your manager who, in turn, issues you raises. If you’re happy in your job, it may have something to do with the fact that your talent is recognized with positive attention from your managers and others in the company. And that positive attention results in more money.
On the other hand, if you’re unhappy with what you do, you’re less likely to respond readily to new intiatives, and your negative attitude might impact effective communication with your co-workers.
What do you guys think?
Need your comments and views on the same.

According to my perception is it true, that money does buy independence, and independence is one of the aspects of happiness. But when the basic financial necessities are covered, does more money make you happy ? ? ??
Basically there are two sets of people in the real life , One who lives by self motivation that is through his competence, independence etc and others through money, power etc..
If you can predict a person’s happiness based on whether they focus on the Inherent part or Originate from the outside. It assumes that those who focus on the inherent part are happier than those who focus on extrinsic, like money. Therefore, according to this money will not make you happy. And therefore it is a clear that the more you care about money, the less happy you are.
But however, whether money makes you happy depends on few other factors too. Firstly it depends on how much you have before you get the money. (Ex: Lucky Lottery)
My conversation might support only phrase to the most but if you can realize “Why you want it” and “What you do with the money once you have it”, the Second phrase automatically comes into the picture.
Therefore it all about how you manage them ...
As I already mentioned in another topic, if you think of money as an intrinsic motivation, if you do your work focusing on money as direct reason for happiness, in time it is proven that the interest in your work will decrease and you'll become self conditioned to work only for this purpose - of gaining more money. The passion for your work, the satisfaction of a well done job is lost and you become "the slave of money".
Who says he doesn't like money or doesn't need them is a hypocrite. We live in a world where money can buy almost everything. Almost, because you'll never be able to buy true love, respect, honesty, real friendship and all these are much more important than many of the material things bought with money. You can although buy the means for a decent life, you can buy things that will bring a smile on your child's face, you can buy the house of your dreams, a car you want, the medicines you or someone in your family needs, a present you'd like to give to a dear person. So money are important but not for their value, but for what they can enable you to do or have. It is important - as Sabitha said - to know how to spend it, to know exactly what you need them for.
Unfortunately, in these times, more and more often we see people focusing on money, wishing to have as many as they can by all means. They want money to buy everything, including loyalty, position, career. They think that they can gain all these if they have money and what's sad is that sometimes they are able to bribe whom ever it's necessary in order to get what they want. That defines corruption and its ruts are so deep that it's really difficult to stand up against it, to regain our true values and start appreciating again the real qualities of a person, the integrity, the honesty, the true loyalty and commitment.
According to my perc... See Sabitha's complete reply
Its very much true and i accept what ever you said
" those who focus on the inherent part are happier than those who focus on extrinsic, like money. Therefore, according to this money will not make you happy. And therefore it is a clear that the more you care about money, the less happy you are."
Be happy and don't think how much money you have to make, think how much happy you are with the money you made with your true efforts and hard work.
And thanks to Sabitha & Claudia too.
As far as I concern, daily life can be made happier, it is a matter of choice we make. It is our attitude that makes us feel happy or unhappy. We meet all kinds of situations during the day, and some of them may not be conductive to happiness. We can choose to keep thinking about the unhappy events, and we can choose to refuse to think about them, and instead, relish the happy moments. All of us constantly go through various situations and circumstances, but we do not have to let them influence our reactions and feelings.
If we let outer events influence our moods, we become their slaves. We lose our freedom. We let our happiness be determined by outer forces. On the other hand, we can free ourselves from outer influences. We can choose to be happy, and we can do a lot to add happiness to our lives.
Happiness is a feeling of inner peace and satisfaction. It is usually experienced when there are no worries, fears or obsessing thoughts, and this usually happens, when we do something we love to do or when we get, win, gain or achieve something that we value. It seems to be the outcome of positive events, but it actually comes from the inside, triggered by outer events.
For us happiness seems fleeting, because they let changing outer circumstances affect it. One of the best ways to keep it, is by gaining inner peace through daily meditation. As the mind becomes more peaceful, it becomes easier to choose the happiness habit.

i agree with your statements and its very much happening in day to day life.
Circumstances is one of the cause for few people, but most of the cases are as you said that they can buy many things through money or bribing others to get their things done.
we need money to survive, but money is not everything.......
we cannot buy love from our beloved through money.......
Nowadays, people are so much addicted to money that, they forget their own people, family & friends.......
we can't find joint families nowadays,i feel money has indirectly influenced our lives.
in this topic,i would like to add another issue i.e the increase in number of old age homes...........
may be,for sake of independent life and misunderstandings, parents may get separated from their kids, but i feel money also plays a major role in that....
Though we get sufficient money to survive, there is one drawback to be noted.
Today's youngsters want to spend lavishly on electronic goods and any other new things which is attractive.......
They failed to understand the importance of savings.if we save enough money in the starting stage of our earning period, there is no necessity to borrow loans......
instead of spending lavishly, like partying, cinema, cricket match......
Look at the government, advertisement agencies, cinema & especially the cricket board.,they are giving money to the people who are already rich......
why don't we people spend few amount for some good cause ????????
There are many people who don't get even their basic necessities of life...
In my opinion, the government should spend in providing the basic facilities to the poor people instead of distributing money to wrong hands.
Then money will surely bring happiness ........
If money reaches the right person,at right time and is reasonable, then its well and good.
In simple words money can make our life heaven as well as a hell, its in our hand...........
In U.K,if you pay the tax properly, education and hospital facilities are free.we have to pay for doctors and medicals only, not for scans, blood tests, delivery of a child etc.
The government hospitals are equally gd compared to the private hospitals there.
In India, especially the medical and education sector is becoming very costly. To earn more money, majority of the deliveries are cesarean......
In U.K,the doctors have to answer the patients for cesarean, the patients may even take the case to the court.........
In India,
the hospital management wants more money, but they don't have the patience to treat the patients properly........
Money makes people blind who forget the humanity......
