May be we can explore the idea of giving Offer letter by giving bare minimum details, especially not mentioning the salary details so that we are negating the chances of prospect using the offer letter to his/her advantage. I think across the board all the HR heads should not encourage this practice of recruiting people who show offer letters and grab offers at an attractive price. This attitude of using the offer letters as ransom should not be encouraged at all. Ethics are important and also may be we can explore retaining certificates or issuing bank guarantee for amt. deposited with the organisation before accepting offer letter. Why this business of accepting offer letters and bargaining for more attractive offers elsewhere does not happen in Govt. Sectors and only happens in pvt. sector is a moot point. Are we all missing the trick in the rigmarole of our functions?

Replied to "How do we define Success - Speech by Subroto Bagchi to Class of 2006 at IIM, Bangalore" in Motivation!!

Dear Madhur
At the outset I thank you very much for sending an outstanding post. Nice taste. Infinite thanks to Mr Subroto for even more outstanding speech. All along I was groping in dark about exact definition and true meaning of success. If after reading this someone says that success is relative term then one has to take the statement with a pinch of salt. Now my illusions which I have been entertaining all along have been shattered and my fears about success dispelled. Thanks Madhur once again for being an excellent facilitator. There are numerous openings for excellent facilitators in this nature and you apparently fit the bill. Kudos to Mr Subroto as well as you.

Dear all concerned
Over the past few days so much fuss is being made out of copyright blah blah. See it's very simple. If there is any good article that if someone reads would be less ignorant about that thing than what is the hassle in sharing with all, once you have duly given the credit to the author by mentioning his name and from where that article has been copied. Intelligence also lies in correctly locating the source for thought provoking articles and appreciating its worth and feeling to share among fraternity. I don't see anything wrong. Yes if an article which is copied but presented here as their own should be condemned but certainly not when due credits are mentioned. I certainly mentioned the source when I re-presented "When our colleagues mistakes affect us". Just gauge the response and think, had people not been aware of such concepts how ignorant they would have been to that effect. So evolve a mature policy. And also some people are trying to get even. We all are even only in our coffin boxes and not elsewhere. Let's accept that it's an uneven turf. Instead of complaining about pot holes on the road why not enjoy the journey. Kindly ponder. So let us display maturity and get along.
