Replied to "GAP Analysis" in Performance Assessment!!
16-02-2009.
Hello,

Here's my 2 cents worth:

A Gap Analysis is the identification and analysis of the gaps present between the current competence level and the defined future competence needs of the organisation.

Competency mapping would thus be a pre-requisite step to carry out a successful Gap Analysis. A brief example would be:

Step 1: Identify organisation's long and short term competence needs - based on strategic directives and goals.

Step 2: Identify organisation's current competence level via a competence mapping process.

Step 3: Perform an analysis of the above 2 steps and identify the Gap.

This is but a step in the entire process. Do drop me a mail if you'd like to discuss this further.

Cheers!

Edwin
