I guess its hi time companies became more responsible in these days of economic downturn. They could rather bring final benefits for employees before chucking them out of the company.Ultimately neither the employee nor the employer is to blame. Atleast the employer can make the experience an enjoyable one for employees.
The HR guys play a major role in these recession days when they can bring new rules for both the parties. People are only bothered about "WHAT NEXT". So one way of dealing with it is to organise a session where in employer shows their pink slips in rather a mild manner than to thrust it upon any faithful employee in a blunt way. Otherwise they would only be destroying their reputation. employees must never feel that its a "HIRE TO FIRE" situation.
Organizing Stress Relief/ Management program, opening up ideas and ways by which employee can effectively utilize the last days in office for new beginning & better opportunities could be discussed. Also a knowledge sharing meeting would be helpful wherein the affected employees get to share their expereince working in that company with the team mates.
The basic intention of these programs should be to ease out/ neutralise the negative emotions , recessions caused for an individual. Ideas and thoughts from team mates and higher authorities could be shared. Activities for expanding contacts for new job could be build. These activities could be formulated by the HR for employess till his notice period is served.
