Will salary freezes help India Inc ?



We have been getting reports that many companies are now resorting to nil hikes next year April 09 or marginal hikes. HP has already decided to freeze will others follow suit ?

Has the time come for Indian software companies to be realistic in giving increments Y-o-Y

Does it impact the employee morale thereby leading to lower motivation levels ?

Is it the right time when the market matures and companies resort to single digit hikes going forward ?



What will be your advise to the Management in this regard with particular reference to the Anniversary Hikes 2009
