From CNN:
The latest government figures show that there are currently five people looking for work for every one job that is available.
Those numbers obviously point to a difficult job market, but that doesn't mean job seekers are taking any job they can find.
A surprising number of Americans are actually turning down job offers. According to CareerBuilder, job seekers are taking the time to find the job that best suits them.
Seventeen percent of unemployed Americans have received a job offer since they lost their previous job, but a whopping 92 percent of them rejected that offer.
The No. 1 reason unemployed people have turned down job offers, CareerBuilder says, is because the pay was too low, often 25 percent or more below what they had been earning.
Other reasons include a long commute, a lower-titled position, and little room for career advancement.
This could mean that workers are more optimistic and have confidence that there will be other opportunities in the future.
CareerBuilder also said the unemployed are taking the time to look for long-term potential as well as appropriate compensation.
