We all have our own big fantasies about the world on other side. With this blog as an excellent mode of expressing our thoughts I want to speak up.

My visit (Shekar, friend of mine) to European countries has inspired me to put down the things were India takes the medal and the things which we need to learn from them.

Medal taken:

* How Secure – Don’t be out on Friday & Saturday night its not safe is the warning given to me by an English CAB driver. People get drunk and then they can do anything. I had a short stay of about 3 months in UK. In that I saw a robbery happening in our house where our clothes and jackets were stolen. During our visit to other places our colleague lost his camera cover worth 16 pounds when just for few minutes he has kept it unattended on the bus station. Those minutes he was standing just a few feets away from it taking our pictures. Other one has got the jacket stolen in Mc Donalds when he went for few minutes and left it unattended. A report from internet site http://www.mapsofworld.com/world-top-ten/countries-with-highest-reported-crime-rates.html listing top ten countries of reported highest crime rate lists: Iceland, Sweden, New Zealand, Grenada, Norway, England & Wales, Denmark, Finland, Scotland, Canada arranged in descending order of crime rates.

* Medical Facilities there - The National Health care system in UK is definitely advanced if u compare it with its counterpart in India, but how much it is able to serve the people. You take a simple dental appointment and wait up to weeks or may be months before your turn comes. And for the private medical option it is so expensive that you need to be a celeb or rich industrialist to afford that. In fact the people (British/Indian) over there come to India for medical treatment as it is both affordable and offer contemporary treatments. To justify what I am saying http://society.guardian.co.uk/cancer/story/0,8150,1462494,00.html site can be visited.

* Culture – India ranks high when it comes to cultural aspect of it. As such every culture has its negatives and positives, but India undoubtedly is a culturally rich country. On Saturdays it’s a very common view of youngsters all drunk just lying on the street having vomited. A frequent news headline over there is like student got drunk and burnt the old beggar sleeping on the bench.

* Fun in India – And no one can ever deny the enjoyments we have over here of galloping and mouth watering pani puris, enjoy traveling without the burden of carrying heavy jackets on the body, shopping even at late night, in UK shops get closed by 5.00 p.m. and last but not the least having maid servants to do all the work at home.

*

Indian Food – When we Indians take a great pride in coping each and everything which is Western, they appreciate our food and our culture a lot. We can see many English people enjoying Indian food in Indian Restaurants having an ambience very Indian in UK.

*

Education - The education in India is considered to be better than it is in west. Even entrepreneurs like Bill Gates have admitted that they need to improvise the education standard in US for more Americans to become competent with their Indian Counterparts.

* Heritage – Heritage wise India is a very rich country. But with a heavy heart I have to admit that we don’t take proper care of it. India probably is the only country which is so much geographically diversified. We have everything from mountains to oceans to deserts, so name it we have it. India is a very beautiful country. Can anyone tell me something as beautiful as Nainital found elsewhere? Talk of historical monuments we don’t have anything like TajMahal, QutubMinar … and many to add in the list over there.

Things we need to learn from them:

* Etiquettes – The things which I really admire in them is their mannerisms. I think we Indians fall short of expressing gratitude to others. Thank you and sorry is in their culture. They will always give smile even on a casual encounter regardless of whether they know u or not. Believe it or not they have a culture and saying thank you even to a bus driver.

* Cleanliness – One thing which appeals to me in these western countries is the cleanliness. Can’t we Indian keep our environment as clean? It’s just a matter of self discipline not all that hard. The ironic part of it is the same Indians practice cleanliness once they are out in these developed nations, so why not in your own country.

I hope people will think twice before they say so what’s there in India. It’s the people who make the country, without them country is just a piece of land it can’t be good or bad.

Thanks Sharing the thoughts...
Though its a nice post but when it comes to the end and you asked us to learn few thing from them,
I would like to say that those things were present in our culture if you remember Gandhi ji....

There is much more then sorry and Thank u....

About cleanness now also in villages houses get clean with the cow dunk and Gaumutra..which is the high value with respect to culture and hygiene...

I think European countries should take a lesson from that.

I am not offending but just wanted to say....
hope you wont mind...

:)
