Being Prepared
This situation has placed the fresh graduates to a disadvantaged position. Fresh graduates cannot easily compete for the few available positions in any industry today.
Although their education is geared towards the specific industry, there will always be someone who can easily be better for them since they had a better education and had an actual job experience.
Your internship would count but it will never be the same when compared to a person that was actually paid to do something for the industry.
But it is not the end for fresh graduates. Finding a job during recession could be difficult but no one said that it would be impossible. There are just certain considerations that you need to remember so that you will excel in any industry.
Barking the Wrong Tree
One of the main reasons why a person cannot easily find a job is that he or she is looking at the wrong place. Recession has affected a lot of industry but it has not affected all industries that no one is really hiring anymore. There are certain industries that are still striving and improving until today.
The surviving industries today are those that provide essential services. Product based companies are still striving but a certain product could be easily disregarded since they are not essential. A company might not also fare well and lose to recession when a competitor offers something more efficient with a lesser price.
When a consumer is presented with options, the consumer will naturally select the product that will give them the service they need without the price. Because of competition a company will always lose. Worst, competition will force everyone to cut jobs because consumers are torn to which company they want to work with.
On the other hand, companies that provides essential services to the community will never feel the drastic effects of recession. They will still be affected but it is just basically on the fact that they cannot easily post good profit. They will always be earning since people will be needing their services no matter what the economic situation is.
