CHENNAI: The government on Friday announced increase in contributions by the employee, employer and the government to the Labour Welfare Fund to Rs.7, Rs.14 and Rs.7 respectively from 2009 onwards for implementing labour welfare schemes.

An official release stated that due to the increased rate of contribution, the government would be incurring an expenditure of Rs.1.5 crore per annum. At present the annual contribution of the employee is Rs.5, employer Rs.10 and the government Rs.5 towards the fund. — Special Correspondent
