It was a hot sunny day where the summers are scoring a massive strike rate with temperatures soaring to the utmost possible. Also, the Electricity Department giving a good lead by frequent power cuts. This situation will truly be the most unforgettable and it has to be experienced as literature would surely not be a right mode of expression



In this most poignant scenario, I reach my work in the noon (well, well, I work in the noon shift) and was completely disconnected with my work scenario as I was beaten badly by the scorching sun



While slowly recouping to the normal energy levels, my desk phone buzzed and I hear a hoarse voice of the caller, the front office lady asking me whether I am there in the office as someone is already waiting for me at the lobby



Yes, understood the nature of the job of a front office person is truly performed but requires a minuscule effort required by her, while calling an employee or any other person for that matter. A pleasant soothing voice over the phone coupled with few phone etiquettes like introducing the person before asking for the right contact and also confirming for the appropriate person before delivering the message are elementary, to execute the duty of the front office



My professional experience has given me a wide opportunity of analyzing and understanding the front office employees where my opinion levels have been toppled beyond imagination. Most of these employees take this as a 9 hour job; work for a month and the end of the month draw their salaries



Agreed that every individual works for a pecuniary benefit, but then, a few seconds of introspection on the existing performance would give them an immense change in their performance



I always observe that, these professionals consider attending calls as a stereotype activity, due to which the politeness in the voice and the amiability is often gone untraceable. It gives any person who called; a sheer disappointment when they hear a voice that is in an extreme hurry without a sigh of graciousness



I often wonder how the call attendants can be sluggish in their job as these are first point of contact for any outside caller. I once met a person at a social gathering, where I learnt from that most of the times he decides to perform a business or proceed to further levels of discussions with the companies only after he is convinced with these front office employees who answer the calls



I was thoroughly astonished to learn that this as a most critical component in proceeding further and also interesting inference of this approach is that most of the times his analysis lead to a successful accomplishment



It deeply pains me when people forget to consider these etiquettes as a primary element of their job. In one of my experiences, I encountered a front office executive who called me on my desk phone for particular information and the surprising part of the call was, the executive did not even bother to check whether she is speaking to the appropriate person



Accepted that she has performed her job of keeping posted on their contacts and messages but then a minor repair on the presentation could have generated more positive impression



A cherish able experience with one of the front office executives has to be shared with all you readers at this juncture where I was completely stumped the way he handled the call



To get into the details of this experience, I once happened to call up a company located in the Australia for a particular business, where the lines was busy then and once my line struck, the receiver of my call with utmost honesty and sincerity apologizes for keeping my call on hold. The tone and tenor were visibly evident and pleased me so much, for a minute I forgot completely that my call has been kept on hold for about 10 minutes



Before I close, I appeal every reader of this article to kindly introspect the way perform calls, as this is the only way where an individual can learn, change, and prosper
