PRONUNCIATION:

(SHUHR-tee)

MEANING:

adjective: Bad-tempered, irritable.



ETYMOLOGY:

From the expression "to get someone's shirt out" to annoy or to lose one's temper. Earliest documented use: 1846.



USAGE:
