One day I got a call from one of our Area Sales Managers and was informed that, one of his OIC is under performance. He gave lots of incidents like not monitoring late comings of the staff, not reporting to work on time, not achieving targets fr 3 months (he has joined before 3 months and for this month, his target achievement is more than 75% means, 100% performance under our performance review system – that’s really good) and there are many other reasons like, poor administrative capability etc. Finally I was informed that, this employee’s Father is in the ICU and in a critical stage by unexpected heart attack. So he is on leave yesterday and today.
I finished the call by instructing the manger to send him to me for a chat in order to remind him his performance gaps after the father’s incident is over.
Then I finished the call.
After 10 minutes I called the Manager again and got the OIC’s telephone number.
I called him. This is the dialog between us.
Me: “ hello A, where are u now, are you at home or in the Hospital”
A: “ May I know who is calling please”
I said, “ I am So and so, from HR department , newly joined HRM. I just called to know about your father’s condition. How is he now? ”
A: “He is getting well now miss”
ME: “IS he in the ICU or in the ward A”
A: “he was transferred to ward today miss”
Me: “can he talk and act normal now”
A: “cant tall yet, but he is recovering, however tomorrow I report to work miss, I can arrange with my cousin”
Me: “No , No A, I just called to know your father’s condition, not to check your availability in the office”

So that was the dialog, this is somewhat similar to the real dialog we had. After that I was surprised. N his tone, I could understand what he feels about HR guys, the sudden answer to my question that he will report to work tomorrow caused me to heart my heart so much. Because that guy thought that I am checking his attendance. How terrible HR is?
The dilemma indicates that how technical we are, how far we are from our fellow employees. HR is something which checks attendance, discipline and targets. No real feeling there. No humans to share the sad or good moments of employees’ lives. May be its me the 1st person for his entire life who called and asked about a personal incident which directly involved with his career too?
My dear friends,
What do you think? As HR what we should do? May be it is small scale organization which HRM could be able to reach all the employees any time, maybe it is a middle scale organization which HRM can reach the fellow employees anyhow, may be it can be a large scale organization which all the HR guys and girls should get together to achieve this target. BUT the question is, DO WE DO THAT ? IF NOT WHY?
person doing my job. So taking a little time goes a long way........
There are strange things happen in each and everybody mecahnical life.So need to allocate time to spend more and more time with our employee by way of talking about their daily schedule.
The conversation should be without any commerical interest,as we always speak to them in normal manner

i would like to share my views,HRD is the Pillar of every concern whether it would be small or large, The people in HR must know the pulse of the employees attitude, behaviour, its really difficult to analyse but we should identify little bit, try to conduct a meeting with employee then only we can create a good rapport with co-workers, it will avoid the conflict between the persons.
