Will you please brief me about the above mentioned question?
According to me...HR Generalist is sumbody who takes care of all round brief activities of HR ie.Recruitment, Screening, Shortlisting, Preparing Salary sheet, Disbursing Salaries/Wages, MIS, Salary slips,etc....n Payroll HR is a specific role which can be sumed up under HR generalist profile
Hope this info might have helped you make the difference clear

yes this is Ok but more over. Generalist profile is subjective part or containing main fuction of HR like- Recruitment/ Training & Development/ Employee Motivation/ Performance, policies generation. However payroll is a sub part of HR containing mainly accounting data's like Salary process, bonus, Leave maintenance, gratuity etc.
i hope it will clear u very well.
