People are afraid of many things. They are scared to ask when they don't know, nervous about starting something new or anxious of what others might think of them. There are those who are frightened of flying, of heights or being in the dark.

Being scared is not inborn. You build on it through time. Some things happened that you didn't like or did not work, you attach fearful thoughts to them, keep them in your memory and create your internal reality.

So when you see or hear something that act as stimulus, you trigger your emotion, go back to your memory and feel disturbed by the thoughts. You hesitate and would do anything to avoid taking actions even if it provides a chance of personal growth and improvements in your life.

What to do when you are afraid?

Make a firm decision.

To become more daring is only a decision away. You need to make a firm resolution to change the way you think, feel and behave. Acknowledge that what has happened in the past does not have to repeat itself. You should also realize that not everything you hear or read are true and accurate.

Change your internal reality.

What you think is true is your reality. To change your external experience, you have to change the way you believe, think and focus internally. You frighten yourself with pictures that would lead to falling, failing and being disappointed.

If you entertain the fearful images and thoughts, your feelings will blow up. Your focus of attention is in the wrong direction and you have to shift it.

Your fear is linked to a pain that may have happened somewhere in time. You allowed it to stick. You have to choose encouraging visual thoughts and attach strong feelings to override your painful memories. Start imagining positive outcomes and visualize the image of yourself as a daring person.

Try the MindMaster, a tool to help you reprogram your mind for change, the easier and faster way.

Act upon it.

Once you have enough information, act upon it. Your actions are powerful approach to change your beliefs and push yourself to overcome your timidity. Push all negativity aside. There is no guarantee that you will succeed but hesitating and procrastinating will make you more terrified.

Continue to do the right things and taking positive actions. Keep on until you no longer feel afraid and develop self-confidence.

Listen to your inner dialogs.

What do you say to yourself when you feel nervous? Notice the comments and mental arguments that are going on within. It is your internal noise that is trying to protect you and maintain your fearful thoughts.

Have conversations with yourself and ask why it has to feel so insecure. Stand up to your internal noise. You have to influence it to change the untruth that is holding you back.

Emulate the bold.

It is your limited knowledge that scares you. You are unsure if what you are going to do is going to work. You have to learn as much as you can outside your knowledge and experience.

Find people who have the courage to do what you fear. Hang around them and learn their strategies. Copy them and act boldly.

By gathering the information that you need and studying people and yourself, you will figure out the ways to break free and change.
