Ramanand loved his young wife very much, but she was sick and about to die. She told her husband “ I love you very much. Don’t ever leave me. When I die do not marry another woman. If you do then I will become a ghost and torment you.”
Soon the young wife passed away and Ramanand was grief stricken. He did not marry another woman, but after three months he met and fell in love with another woman. Soon they were engaged and to be married.
Immediately after this a ghost started coming every night to Ramanand and blamed him for breaking his promise. The ghost would describe in detail everything that Ramanand had done throughout the day.
In fact the ghost would repeat every conversation and describe in detail all that transpired between Ramanand and his new sweet heart. Ramanand lost his sleep and was extremely worried. Someone advised him to go and met the wise man who lived on top of the hill.
Next day Ramanand trudged up the hill and told his story to the wise man. After he finished describing his woes ,man replied, “ Your wife has become a ghost and knows everything you do. She is a very competent ghost, as she never misses any detail of your life. You should admire such a ghost.
Next time she appears praise her for being clever enough to know everything about him, then strike a bargain with her. Ask her to answer one question that you will ask and tell her if she answered correctly you will break your engagement with your new sweet heart.
“What is the question”, Ramanand asked the wise man .
The wise man relied “ When the ghost comes take a large handful of rice in your fist and ask her to tell how many grains you have in your hand. If she does not answer then you will know she is a fiction of your imagination and will not trouble you after this.
Next day Ramanand waited eagerly for the ghost, and when she arrived Ramanand flattered her and told her that she was very wise and knew everything.
The ghost was pleased told him that she knew all about his visit to the wise old man . “ Since you know so much”, said Ramanand , tell me how many grains of rice I hold in my hand.”
There was no ghost to answer the question.
Hi Shamala... I m glad that you asked without any hesitation...
here the story says that the ghost was in his subconscious mind and thats why the ghost knew everything about him. And the ghost couldnt answer Ramanands question because Ramanand himself didnt know the answer.... Here the message is same as that of given in Lage Raho Munna Bhai..

Sonal.
