Yes,
PMS will definetly fecth the performance of the employees. I too agree with you to have a short term reviews will provide better progress but is that review is to evaluate the performance and improvement of emplyoees or to check with the technical aspects in terms of delivery time bounds..?
employees are more keep to recieve rewards and recognition based on the short term reviews rather to wait for year long appraisal(based on performance).
plz comment....!

PMS and the techniques implemented by the companies differ from company to company and industry too. I was thru PMS in both IT and Pharma industry but the observation is that.. how worthy the employees are really appraised based on their performance. In fact based on a research, only 30-40% of the employees were satisfied with their performance appraisal and its too without BIAS.
would like to here more from your exp plz..

but do u think PMS can really show the hard efforts of an employee?
what abot other factors?!...
we also take a report every 2 weeks from the Team Manager...in order to get an exact picture and work done by each individual...
monthly performance review ( technically and HR point of view ) is very important for a good Performance Management...
these short term and small reports will make a good summary later during the appraisal period...
