Hi Dharni,

While screening the resumes, a recruiter usually does not spend more than 3 to 5 minutes and therefore efforts need to be made to catch the attention of the hiring manger from the word "Go".

The most common method used nowadays for applying to vacancies is through e-mails. However while composing the message many use abbreviations like "ur" "for "your" and “thanx" for 'thanks" which just goes on to show that the applicant was in a great hurry or when a candidate can't compose an application (which is his/her gateway to a better career opportunity) properly, he/she would not be putting in too much thought or effort in his/her work. Such resumes many a times get sent to trash without being opened even if the person may have drafted a perfect resume.

Before attaching the resume it is always better to check it at least two times and one must use spelling and grammar check to rectify any errors because spelling and grammatical errors are not always taken in good spirit by hiring managers.

Try to show a correlation between your experience/education and the key skills required for the job you are applying for.

Hope these tips would be useful for you.

Dear Dharni,

While skills, experience and qualifications play a crucial role in screening of a resume.

A well drafted mail and resume displays a certain degree of professionalism. But then, the criteria can differ depending upon the position the person is being hired for.

I would be able to give u a clearer idea if you may tell me the type of positions you work on.

Resume is replica or u may say mirror of your mind set to any position ur looking into.
Ur resume>>>well by a recruiter see for 20 Seconds or u may say 5 mts
Art of wrting
Quality of arrangement of words
Quantity with respect to Studies and achievements
Any outrage and enrichment of achievements
Mainly, the personal data
Ur set of dream and ur set of expectation of payment
Hence, these are very few points
My other friends have tried well to describe all in details
I agree strongly with their views
Hence, do notice these themes carefully
Bye
Best of luck

Hi

While looking at a resume you need to keep in my the following key screening
aspects:

1) Whether the person belongs to the sector that you are looking for.
2) Wheter the candidate has the skill sets/educational qualifications you are looking for
3) Location
4) Age of the person(particularly for sales)
5) Whether the person is consistant in his job and that he growing in his profile.
6) Desired salary matches your budget
7) Achievements in his career history
8) In case of IT candidates, the projects he has done, the languages used, the role he played in the project etc

The intial screening that is to identify whether the CV is useful and worth looking should not take more than 30 seconds and if the CV looks good more deeper screening should be done which will take upto 5 mins.It is more important to spend time on good CVs and not ones which could be of no use.

Hope this helps. Happy hunting...

Siby

Hi Dharni

I think skill-set, experience, achievements and qualifications are enough to call a candidate for interview. But it always depends for what level, industry we are hiring, instrutioins given by the clients and obviously as per past experience.

I can actually give more inputs effectively if you can share the case.

Regards

Rakesh

Hi,
Recruiters will view a profile not more than 30 secs to 1 min.
Check for the following points:
1. relevant experience
2. qualification
3. stability
4. Current CTC & expected CTC match
5. incase of IT profiles, projects done
Sometimes even potential candidates are unable to express themselves in the CV. Need to provide benefit of doubt
