Well, you and me know each other through such networking sites. i and many other guys from different sectors share different messages, Articles, shares their experience, we almost share our lives when we are here on the link pasting the replies, spilling our hear out on different articles and thoughts and experiences.

Wht is this REALITY OR VIRTUAL REALITY? Hardly matters, without seeing each other if a person can be connected to 100's of counterparts that's what networking means. What's important is our thoughts travel through the medium of such networks to numerous minds.

That is y humans are superior and every thing is possible virtually or in reality...

Thank you,
Harsh

Dear Priya,

I did not get your point on "really help in building network".

I am sure you have found plenty of friends here on this site...You mail/ping them...share your daily routines...share your professional/personal experiences...

Post/reply/read/share & rate different news & articles here...

Updating your knowledge in your professional field...getting the new updates from different companies...

Get to know about different openings & job opportunities & who knows? you might as well contact/be contacted by the recruiter in this forum itself, instead of going a long way of posting & waiting for being shortlisted :)

But, yes, if you add members just for the sake of having & feeling your contact list...that would be an unhealthy networking...it is always good to be careful about who is adding you or whom you are adding up!?
a quick browse through their profile or their contact list or even few of their posts/replies...would give you a review about him/her...& gives you an edge to choose to network with that person.

I have known many professionals here with different levels of experiences, understanding & maturity...& I am glad about it....

If not for this site, I would not be able to meet any of these special "virtual" friends of mine here... & I cherish them as much as my "real" friends...

So happy networking,

Diana

Hi friends,

Networking means, my personal feeling is at least person should have some respect, whether he/she working or fresher.

On the subject of this I can say, I did signup with this site 2months back, I observed one thing only…

All are adding up the contacts, I suppose that’s not a good thing, and not a bad thing also, if you add a person, at least you have to know about him/her little bit, like what is role, where is he/she working, what is the purpose to join this network??/

Initially I was also just visited lots of profiles and added, I realize that there is no use, if I keep adding the contacts I can not get better in my skills and knowledge, at least I have to read every posting and reply with my best answer,

Finally I can say, this site is useful to fresher only, it will help them concepts wise…
In this site postings are really very nice; by this site fresher knows what corporate market is.

This site will help to improve knowledge, skills, build your network before that just think how you will help to others through this site….

Thanks & Regards

Phanikumar. D

Networking can be very important and useful: a great way to access information, to keep in touch with news, to be in a “happening environment”, to feel in the middle of events or part of your world of professionals, to get to know people, to expand your acquaintances circle etc.
Of course that there will always be people who’ll just sign in on many sites, add a lot of contacts, join many groups just for the sake of it and never really be part of that network or be active, interested in reading news, posts on those sites, be active in the groups they shown interest on.
There will always be spammers and we just had a long debated topic regarding how to “spare” HRLink community from these type of members or who are only looking for credit that it never should be theirs.
To answer your question, I believe that it can be called “virtual reality” but this doesn’t really matter what name we give to it because this is a site of professionals, where I found answer to many questions or things that interested me, where I made really true and profound relations, even friendship relationships in which I trust and made my life better. For me it’s more than virtual, since people were willing and opened enough to share their life or professional experience, to answer to my questions, pings, to comment regarding on some of my point of views, to guide me in choosing the right attitude towards a situation.
We are adults, serious people, we are all aware of internet disadvantages and possible fake identities or false information and we are united to protect this “family” against these threads.

Maybe I'm not the right person to answer to your post. I respect your point of view but I believe not only freshers benefit from this site; maybe mainly and this should be a good thing, to help the more unexperienced gain knowledge and avoid some common mistakes.

I witnessed many discussions between seniors too who have shared news, adressed questions to each other, wanted another oppinion, another point of view when they faced a situation for the first time in their professional life, in the complex world of human resources where there are so many branches, subtelties and changes too.

Dear Priya,

It goes in both ways..

It really help in sharing knowledge, discussing things related to HR, consulting with experts, searching a job and many other advantage.

But building network not always work out. I seen every one is having a good no. of contacts in their list but they may or may not be knowing all those people. Not even communicating with them on regular basis. Many people just kept an account in this site but not operating actively. Many build networks only on their priorities and prefernces.

I want to put my personal experience. When I joined this site I added many HR professionals in my list hoping that I will get some knowledge from experts and also I get some help in finding a good job opportunity into HR fuctional area. Now I have 88 contacts in my list and out of that I am hardly in touch or in relation with 4-5 people. I contacted many people by sending a message while adding them but I not even got responce from many among them.

In an another case I tried to contact an expert (not mentioning his name) who is an active participant in this networking site with some good no. of points. I tried to aproach by messaging him 3 times for some guidence in his expertised area but I never got a reply from his side. But he always use to put topics in the forum and a very active member of this community.

So it all depends on the priority and prefernce of the person. But still I am getting a lot of information through this forum and shared items.

With regards,
Vinay

Hi friends,

I just wanted to share my feel on Networking sites like this one. I joined HRlink say 8 months before and say since then, might be rare occasion i would have not logged in to HRlink. I was helped by RK since the start. Whatever queries i had was cleared by RK within no time and moreover no other websites has this facility of clearing doubts and suggestion so faster. Today you are here on this site to read what i have written in this blog. This is networking and sharing of ideas. If you are liking my views u may surely ping me every time and would try be in touch for various reasons.

May be i am late with my views but hope is up to the mark.

Regards

Aravind Kumar

Hi Phani, thanks for your response. I can see that you are relatively new to hrlink. I agree freshers can get a lot of inputs from hrlink. But having said that, I would also like to mention that there have been some really meaningful and high level discussions on HR. I would request you to browse the forum topics already posted. I am sure you would be compelled to change your stance and say "this site is not only useful for freshers, but also experienced folks".

I can personally tell you, that I have been here for over a year now, and my learning hasn't stopped for a single day.

Good luck.

Hi Vinay,

My apologies to you on behalf of THAT senior who didn't respond to you. I want you to know that all seniors are not like that. I would request you to contact me if you need anything in future and I promise I would do my best to help you. If it is beyond me, I would at least direct you to the correct person who would be able to help you.

You show amazing maturity when you say "So it all depends on the priority and prefernce of the person".
