Hi Madhuri,
MBO-Management by Objectives is a topic which was been popularized by Peter.F Drucker in 1954s the key theme of which being Participative Management. The logic is quite simple when you your self commit something and didn't do it, then you can blame no one than you.Definitely a beautiful process for self evaluation of employees.
But when we are using MBO we must remeber the fact that it is participative goal setting so the HR must ensure the goals set by the employees are SMART enough to achieve, and the goals must initiate some motivation in the people who accept them.
There are been a several choices between using MBO, balance score card and other modern techniques we must understand that what ever the way w choose the ultimate goal must be Performing employees and Productivity.
