Hi Rk,
For the repeated topics can we take up the idea what yahoo or other web providers use. Say if you want a user id and if you find it duplicate you cannot create it at all. For eg if we have a topic called Resource in HR Management forum and if a new user tries to post it with the same keyword, There could be a message displaying Duplicate. I know its to be tough task but if implemented can be much more useful to reduce the duplication.
Coming to the points i feel if people are really interested in posting good articles, they would be least bothered about the points table. And i would suggest to make alternative changes instead of points to make it much better. Say participation in HRlink, Replies to the posts etc would be more useful. People who are points oriented will never tend to copy paste articles.
I insist on this because i have seen only say 25 to 30 people only participating for all the posts and discussion. Take the previous discussion as an example posted by Harish. So to make participation necessary RK should take some steps. Say if i am posting some article and 900 Members watch it and i have no replies then my post is useless. At least i believe that few members can comment on what their ideas are about the article posted. If i am wrong somewhere, they can correct me, and if i am correct can still gives ideas for better prospects.
Note: Make members to gain more points for participation and less for postings.
Thumbs up, good one, wellsaid, nice posting, keep posting are to avoided.
ITS MY VIEW, READY TO DISCUSS

It would be easier to verify a 5 to 10 letter username for duplication. It would be tough to verify a topic that runs into thousands of words.
We have forum search in place. It's obvious that members, before they post, must search for what they are posting. And post it only if it's not already posted.
You can, however, report a duplicate post and we will remove it.

We should look for information and share instead trying to gain points. Every induvidual should be aware on this as professionals so that this site could come up with systematic HR information can be coupled on facets of HR – say Induction, Recruitment, Appraisals etc), rather than score based.
Hello Sumitha - great perspective!
Aravind - I go with Sumitha.
We should look to help others, share knowledge, and grow professionally and personally, instead of trying to gain points.
This should answer your question to me about the participation.
I don't have any concern for points, but people who are concerned about the points have only posted the topics but have never participated for the post. I would like ask the HRlink moderators to take some action for the participation of the members.
