Hi Sanvi,
There is no fun in putting the last piece of a jigsaw puzzle and you are one of the lucky few who gets to make the start.
You can start by putting the pieces of recruitment and selection process within your company together. Focus on what is wrong with the existing system and then proceed to create a policy with the aim of improving the process.
You are welcome to get in touch with me if you need help with the same.
Regards,
Anika

Hi Sanvi,
I think these things can help you out:
1.)Prepare an organizational chart and establish the hierarchy between the departments.
2.)Study the work process in the company, and the jobs which are handled at various levels.
3.) Try to frame out standing orders and get the confirmation for the same from your manager and display it through the departments.
4.)Formalize the attendance and punching system Days o work , holidays, and OT hours etc.
5.)Ask for the Job analysis form each department head and prepare the manpower charts for each department, and decide upon the HRP and recruitment to be done if needed.

Hi,
As I am also doing the same thing from the last 4 months I had written a blog: http://latentnoises.blogspot.com/2009/10/setting-up-of-hr-department.html.
This might help. Incase you need some details you can revert.
Good luck!
