Definition of Recession:-A period of general economic decline; specifically, a decline in GDP-Growth domestic Product for two or more consecutive quarters. There is a decline in per capita income in all the sectors in the economy in this condition. In lay man words, the hit in the economy is experienced by the rich and the poor, the organised and the unorganised sector

For an individual, the GDP is his Gradually Diminishing Potential as his capabilities are underutilised or in some cases unutilised. In such a condition it is indeed a challenge to stay focused especially for people who believe they are a part of the race only to “win” like the Entrepreneurs and big business heads.

This is a market imposed situation and everybody has to take the burden. It is no ONE man’s mistake but all have to pay for it. The strength in this situation lies in accepting it and not fading away from our predetermined goals in life.

This could be achieved by a consistent patience level and by not jumping into bizarre decisions without proper thought.”Survival of the fittest” should not be forgotten. The key is to be open to the situations ahead, prepare yourself mentally for the worst still hoping for the best, challenging the situation and ensuring the best of you is given in the current situation.

The recession has its own advantages too at the same time. This is the time when the employers would want to do away with the unproductive employees with strict boundaries set to them. In other words, recession should ensure a re-accession of the bad to go and good to remain.

Some other tips to stay focused:-

a) Understand your company situation by asking questions to your seniors

b) Do not give into rumours about the company status

c) Remember to remind yourself of your strengths at least once in a day

d) Reason yourself for choosing your career line and ask are you happy

e) If the answer is “NO” identify alternatives immediately.

Recession is Re-accession.

Hi Pooja,

Its good reminder for reccession. You are true that actually its re-accession. But it requies intentional efforts, some employers instead of taking right measure simply slash off their resources for the namesake 'bad market'...as HR we need to ensure that any disparity should be handled very carefully looking at company's as well as employee's point of view, though its dificult to fight but thats the demand of job for HR...

wht do others say..........

Regards,
Rahul
