In today̢۪s scenario, organization doesn̢۪t want superstar employees for their organization. They need the candidate with right attitude with basic technical skills. It is natural that when an employer offers service to a candidate, he does have positive expectations from him for making solid contribution to his organization. The practice that he should get maximum output for minimum remuneration was the old dictm and story of the past.

Hi Anuradha,

Thanks for sharing an wornderful topic. Well, It’s very useful topic for HR professional to learn and implement these guidelines at the time of recruiting the employees. But HR role will not end by following these guidelines; HR has to keep an eye on the employee’s performance and their role and commitment level on timely basis in company’s performance.

Thanks, for sharing your idea, but again there are no definite set of rules for HR as such while meeting prospective candidate. Its completely the need of the orgn which I feel HR should focus to provide best employees.
In identifying candidates HR must have the feeling that he/she is like one of them, perhaps the sense of geling is important.

Organizations seek those candidates to be members of their team who shall be an appropriate cultural fit.

Whether a candidate makes it to the second round depends on his / her performance in the 5 - 10 minutes of HR interview. The candidate thus tries to put his best foot forward and may have practiced the answer to the question "Tell me about yourself" several times in front of his family or friends.

There may be some who may be appropriate for the job but due to their nervousness during the first two three minutes may end up getting rejected.

Thus while knowing about the candidate is important, the question does not have to be put directly.

Secondly if one is nervous, we need to give him some time to relax by asking simple questions such as "Tell me about your family" or "From where did you do your schooling".

Utmost care thus needs to be taken whether those 5 - 10 minutes have been able to depict the true picture of the candidate.

Regards,
Anika
