hw is this competency mapping is different from job description or a skill set of an individual?we have well defined competencies in job description and say in roles and responsibilities of an individual and why then we should require a competency analysis or a mapping?how is it done actually?
and then what's this critical success factor and key result areas and hw can we identify them and can you elaborate further and also what could be the competency mapping of a hr manager for instance can you please explain?

There is a large confusion about job Descriptions, Job Specifications and Competency mapping.
Job Description is all deals with the Duties & Responsibilities of the Individual JOB
Job Specifications deals with the Skills required to perform the Job.
Competency mapping is one which assess the Strengths / Competencies of the Induvidual. CM characteristics which drive outstanding performance in a given job, role or function.
Competency Mapping is used for Developing the Individuals to meet the demand of the Role / Functions and Organisations.
