Defining Personality
The term “personality” holds many definitions and there is a room for
Differences in scope as we1l as understanding of the definition. The definition
of “Personality” covers the inner aspects of the individual such as,
motivation, perceptions, feelings, reactions, attitudes, values, prejudices that
form the basis of a person’s behavior. In other words, rather than simply
Assessing an individual’s social values that are external behavior and
Comparing it with other members in his/her group, personality defines the
True type of a person.
Personality Traits
Personality includes all traits. The word “trait” refers to a consistent way of
behaving in which people differ from one another. Introversion, intelligence,
anxiety, aggressiveness, prejudice, musical aptitude, honesty, sensitivity,
seriousness and friendliness are all examples for traits. The traits that people
possess and the degree to which they possess them are part of their
psychological feature. It is also important to note that these are concepts that
summarize the patterns of behavior that set one person apart from another.
To understand the complexity of the human personality, theorists have formulated
a framework within they adopt one of the two views.
The first view is a descriptive view, which focuses on the structure of personality.
The second view is a developmental view in which the main objective is to
describe how a person’s character takes shape and how individuals adapt to their
diverse environments.
The descriptive theories of personality take one of the two forms-trait theory or
type theory. The trait theory depicts people in terms that are more specific and
distinct while type theory depicts people based on the behavior of the group to
which they belong to.

When I was a young man
I wanted to change the world
I found it was difficult to change the world
So I tried to change my nation
When I found that
I couldn't change the nation
I began to focus on town
I could't change the town
and as an older man
I tried to change my family
Now, as an old man
I realized the only thing
What I can change is 'myself'
and then I realized
That if long ago I had changed myself
I could have made an impact on my family
My family & I could have made an impact
on our town. Their impact could have
changed the nation and I could indeed have
changed the world!
