Dear All

I have read a lot of topics and posts about employee retention, weak bosses and resolving employee conflict. I am sure you all agree with me when I say that it's easy to come up with theories and solutions with hindsight or especially when we sit on a fence and watch a conflict or a management issue unfolding!!

We have seen the response to posts like

"Why do employees leave organisation?"

"Weak bosses - Very Dangerous"

"Best methods of retention (Er.... don't think I have seen this post but would love to post this sometime)".

there was a tremendous response. But let's face it we are all employees of a company and we are expected to perform at a certain level in our respective roles. But it's the way our boss manages us that detrmines the quality of our output. So can I request all of you if you could take time to pen down who is the best boss you have worked for so far (no need to mention the names) and why is he the best?

Let's discuss issues from the other side of the fence ...eh! We made a lot of noise when the boss ain't right.

Come on folks ...let's hear it for all those good bosses around!

...wow...

19 days - 19 views and ZERO replies. So none of the esteemed members of this forum has a single thing they can appreciate about any of their bosses!!!??!!

But - numerous replies/theories/PPTs about how to be a best boss/good leader/traits of god boss/ appreciation etc.

Makes me wonder how many of the members actually put what they share here into practice!

Just an observation.

Thank You all guys who stopped by to ahve a look at this.

Hi Shalini!
I abstained from replying to this because I have not come across any species called a Best Boss in my career so far and I'm so sorry to reveal this but could not refrain as you are wondering why all the people are silent on this issue. May be all of them are yet to find a best boss...isn't it? How sad??
Cheers!

Hi Shalini,

Yes i am now working under a best boss i never ever expect to find such a kind of person in my futureagain, surprisingly iam working on client side and i have to report to him about my daily work,he is working for client company.

so coming to the point about him, he is avery cool and calm by nature, never interfer in my work and have trust on me that i wouldnt make things horrible.
He keeps a deaf ear on different people saying about me,as he knows how much jealous they are on me.

He just believes on work,if its going smooth.and if anything is going wrong he checks out where exactly its happening ,problem with me or something else and suppose if it is my end ,he speaks smoothly and explains me about pro's and con's.
coming the way he behaves with me will be like a close childhood friend of mine.plays pranks and talks everything abt life and give suggestions ,guildlines and i feel he is like a book i need to learn many things from him.

When i met him very first day , i felt iam directly working under such a man who is director level in IT and member of COO group. he have excellent knowledge on all latest skills.
but later on found to know he is best boss i never saw and will see in future.
So its goes on writing about him.

I will conclude by saying he is My Role Model and follow his steps in my future career.if iam from the same company i would have nominate him for best boss.

Hi Shalini,

Quite an interesting post.

Well but i fall in the same category what Pradeep said. i too haven't came across any species as "Best Boss" they are always a PIA...

Well, my experience says i worked under few. They are nice in the first year, second year they are quite ok, third year they sucks and fourt year hmmmmmm enough of him or her.

well, no body wants to insult their bosses in the open forum and that is the reason why nobody posted even an inch of their experience. lol.

But again i appreciate at least their bosses are happy that they are not ripped off in an open forum..

Well i promise you to get back to your forum the day i come across a boss who makes me feel "Wow" about him or her.

And Yes KUDOS to RAJ. He has found one... I wish you success buddy.

Thank you,
Harsh

Hi Shalini,

Thank you for the post. The boss is the one who takes the best out of you; but, do we take the best out of our bosses??? Well, we don't actually.

Out of about 12 bosses I've worked with, I think, I'm currently working with the perfect boss. Reasons because:

=> His knowledge about the system
=> Moreover, his willingness to share the knowledge.
=> Constant feedback to the sub-ordinates
=> Approachable, Easy to meet or converse with

Creating an opportunity to grow isn't always in the hands of a boss, but any boss in the world can anytime create an opportunity to learn for his/ her subordinates.

I don't know what to say, as i never worked under bosses, i was given full freedom to work, to recruit and to manage my team as i want.
There was never a watch on me, even in Datawise my boss call me CRAZY, ya i m crazy for my work.I love it and i want it complete at any cost however i have to work hard.
Not only me in Datawise we are around 80 consultants, they are absolutely free to work.

I really appreciate my directors to be so cooperative, and make us independent.
also feel myself lucky to have such work environments and bosses as they were/are never bosses just .... like friends

Though few say i m kind of bossy...LOL

Dear All

Thanks for your replies- better late than never!

Pradeep

Best Boss so far..... was the topic.

Of all the bosses you have worked for so far one would be better from the rest or have atleast a few better management tools (I am not saying it should be that way but it is possible to have someone better than the rest).

May be You can answer based on that. If you are look for say some from the textbook/theories it's just not likely going to happen. Hope this will convince you to pen down your opinion about your boss (whom you belive is best so far)!

Thanks

Shalini

Hi Shalini!
You seem to be a good motivator and thank you for 'inspiring' me to express what I actually thought of not doing due to various reasons.
All through my career till now which is mostly in service and manufacturing concerns, I worked in Junior Management level and Middle Management level for many years out of which I have worked under almost 4 bosses who are in HR and during remaining years I have been reporting to Directors and Managing Directors who as usual expect overnight results and returns without spending a penny. HR unfortunately in their eyes is only a space filler and has been relegated to back door.So I don't want to go into their competencies and ideas about HR now as it will be entirely a different topic.
Coming to my bosses in HR, I'm comfortable with only one boss that too only for a short period of six months in my fourth job where we used to live in a township so there was good interaction between us and at the time of his exit our families also have become very close. He is damn ambitious and whatever may come he always used to say hey, pradeep why do you think that this is not possible....everything is possible yaar and you have to put forward your best effort with confidence and he inspired me a lot to complete some assignments which I thought are impossible to do. I have learnt the qualities of becoming ambitious and started believing strongly in myself and my capabilities from that day.I can term him as the best boss I ever had in my career till now.
Cheers!
Pradeep
