Hello Pradeep,
Interesting & realistic topic…thanks for bringing it up…
Let us summarise like this ::
* Setting weak goals - leads to less productivity, which unfortunately leaves a negative impression on subordinates’ performance.
* Micro-manage - effective leaders inspire…these would work well at schools/colleges, though I doubt this is practiced in current days.
* Insecurity due to lack of competency & not being up-to-date, results in NOT hiring/cultivating strong leaders. Or suppressing any new ideas proposed!
* Belittle their employees; you can’t see the light of the candle in the daylight, so they rather stay in the dark, but shine as a candle!
* Have obsolete skills- world is changing faster than we even think! It is so important to be up to date & adaptable to the changes…
* Have poor communication & interacting skills – when you can not talk, relate or connect with your team, you shall never be able to understand them!
* Blame Game…
* Taking credit for their team's accomplishments- familiar sentence? Another name for “team effort”!!!
* Thrive on bureaucracy. Rules, rules & more rules…
* Divorced from their teams - Drawing a line between the subordinate & themselves.
I would like to add another point to these:
Lack of proper work flow, work assignments & reporting systems would lead to more disappointment for the team.
As long as everything is smooth, it is called “proper management” but if something goes wrong, it would be “lack of responsibility of the subordinate!”
I would appreciate other members’ views & experiences as well…please share…
